Bambi Does Beauty, shares the ultimate in-flight beauty regime

Elle McNamara is the face, camera-woman, and curator behind the fresh-faced Instagram page. Starting her feed in 2017, she’s reached over 20k followers in just a year and gives incredible shelfie game.

If you’re a lover of glowy skin, brushed up brows and going makeup-free over a smokey eye, chances are you’ve come across @bambidoesbeauty on Instagram. And if you haven’t yet, you’re welcome.

Hey, we love her so much that we snapped her up as one of our beauty columnists. Welcome to The Glam Squad, Bambi!

The beauty blogger, who recently scooped New-Gen Influencer at our Beauty Power List Awards, will be writing monthly columns so keep an eye out. For her first column, Bambi has shared her in-flight beauty regime.

If you’re a nervous flyer like me, having a little beauty travel pack nestled in your carry-on will REALLY distract you from thoughts such as… “How is this even possible? ” and “What if there’s something wrong with the left falangi? ”. And if you’re not, well it makes the time go quicker between that refreshment cart, doesn’t it?

I never wear makeup when flying, and I guess the pre-requisite to this in-flight beauty manual would be to go barefaced. Even if you’re having a breakout, own your natural beauty (your skin will thank you for it! ).

So, the falangi stayed in tact during take off and the seat belt signs are off… let’s unpack, shall we? I keep all my beauty belongings in the uber chic but also really practical SpaceNK Travel Bag, which is airport security friendly (as it’s see through) and fits 100ml products nice and snug. Yes, it’s tempting to grab a cheap alternative from the high street but trust me, this is your ultimate travel investment (and not just for flying! ).

The GLAMOUR team share their best sky-high beauty tips

Start with a sheet mask. You will have most probably already cleansed in the morning and the air con on flights can really dry out your skin, so this routine is all about hydration. The Spotlight Brightening Mask from the Korean skincare heroes at Saturday Skin is ultra drenched in essence and having this on a bio cellulose mask makes the ingredients perform and nourish the skin on a much deeper level than just applying it directly. So no need for any shame in your skincare game when it comes to sheet masks whilst travelling (…well the tube might be pushing it! )

Next up is the Instagram icon that is the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. This product really lives up to it’s hype – it makes my skin so incredibly dewy and is divine to apply. The first thing you notice is the scent of peppermint, which is a welcoming refreshing touch – especially when you’re 30,000 feet up sharing recycled air with strangers. I apply a light layer (as the consistency is quite thick) and let it sink in, no need to rinse, of course.

This face mask created by two Instagrammers is outselling luxury brands and is loved by Kim Kardashian and Jessica Alba

Your skin should be feeling baby soft by now, so the last remaining products are final touches. I heard from a little birdy (my agent Lucy Pilz aka the Queen of SPF) that you can still get sun damage through the windows on planes – so naturally I apply Glossier’s Invisible Shield SPF 35 for protection. If you haven’t already jumped aboard the Glossier train, this is one of my top recommendations from their range – lightweight (no white residue) and in THE cutest 30ml bottle so a dream to travel with.

As you may have noticed, I’m a fan of the brushed up brow look, I have even been known to Tangle Teeze them in public… well no more! I recently discovered this Slyvanian-sized (well, not literally but it’s pretty tiny! ) Arch Brow Shaping Gel from Hourglass. The wand has two sides, one’s a very thin bristled comb for definition and the other more fluffy. The great thing about this is it’s clear – so no fuss or worry about getting unwanted product anywhere. I find brow gels are a super simple product that makes all the difference to your look.

To finish off I spritz a little of my Jo Malone summer scent in Honey and Davana, this scent really transports you to the beach. I get dry lips so a lashing of LanoLips 101 Ointment Multipurpse Superbalm, is a must-have; nothing hydrates my lips quite like Lanolin. A pump of the oh-so-beautiful Chanel Le Creme Main hand cream to conclude this much-welcomed sky-high pamper session.

Millennial pink Slip Silk sleep mask down and it’s almost time to land. Thanks for flying with Bambi Does Beauty, wishing you the dewiest of skin and most efficient of phalanges.
