The Queens-based company was once called Elmhurst Dairy. In the 1920s, Max and Arthur Schwartz started hand-bottling their own milk in their father’s milk house and delivering it to Brooklyn and Queens. In recent efforts to support the plant-based movement of today, the company is simply called Elmhurst, which better represents their full range of products. Women Entrepreneur of the Year Award-winner Dr. Cheryl Mitchell is helping to drive this change with her “milked plants.”

Elmhurst Milked Cashews Eggnog
4 egg yolks
2 cups Elmhurst Milked Cashews
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp of cinnamon
a pinch of clove
2 tbsp of rum (add 2 tbsp of bourbon if you’re in the mood for a boozier drink)
Whisk together until all ingredients are blended.
