Cropped Jackets Might Replace Your Blazer This Spring

There’s something about the term “transitional weather” that gets us both majorly excited and vaguely anxious: Those few weeks between winter and spring – which should be happening right now, but alas – can instill terror in even the most sartorially advanced among us.

It has the ability to make us refrigerator-stare at our closets, mouth agape, trying to figure out how to navigate rainy, 40-something-degree mornings and sunny, 65-degree late afternoons, all in the same day.

Last season, everyone relied on the trusty blazer as a layering piece for those in-between days. And while we don’t recommend relinquishing the menswear staple to the back of your closet just yet, there’s a new outerwear silhouette in town: cropped jackets.

The abbreviated style is similarly boyish and universally flattering: It looks just as great with a high-waist, wide-leg trouser as it does with a button-front midi skirt; if you’re on the shorter side, take advantage of the shorter hem to show off your waistline.

And, with styles ranging from boxy and ‘80s-inspired to wide-collared denim, there’s an iteration for everyone.

Even better news? Cropped jackets aren’t hard to find this spring: To get your search started, we found 21 fashion-girl-approved styles to shop now.
