Shoe of the Season: Decorated Over-the-Knee Boots

Despite the unusually warm temps, boot weather is quickly approaching, and what better way to kick off the season than by looking at one of the biggest shoe trends for fall: over-the-knee boots.

I know what you’re thinking, thigh-high boots are nothing new, but the trend shows no sign of slowing down. In fact, this over-the-top look is becoming bolder than ever with everything from crystal embellishments and floral embroidery to luxe textures like velvet and animal prints.

So, how do you style such bold boots? I’ll be the first to admit that styling a pair can be tricky. I’ve seen leggy celebs pull off the OTK look, and somehow when I try and emulate, the results are never the same (perhaps because I only stand at a mere five feet tall).

When outfitting your favorite OTK boot, it’s important to keep in mind proportion and contrast. Pair them with skinny jeans for a more casual look, or under a flowy dress in lieu of tights for something a little more romantic. Just avoid short minis or tight dresses, unless you’re paying tribute to Pretty Woman.

If you are looking to spruce up your fall wardrobe, then OTK boots are just what you’ve been looking for. Consider these your solemates.
