But as staunch champions of sustainability here at GLAMOUR HQ, we’re often torn between our responsibility to the planet and our penchant for the latest ASOS drop, which is why we’re ecstatic to have unearthed a little-known section on the e-tailer’s website.
You’d probably be lying if you said you didn’t have a mild addiction to ASOS. With the latest trends, never-ending new drops and seriously affordable prices, it’s certainly a bookmarked tab on our browser.
Whilst having one of our daily perusals on the website, we noticed a ‘Responsible’ tab, which has two separate drop down options, ‘Recycled’ and ‘Sustainable Materials’.
These sections allow you to shop more consciously and have a plethora of incredibly sustainable yet fashion-forward designs. When we asked the e-tailer for more details, they told GLAMOUR: “Our brand new responsible edit is a one-stop home for all the environmentally-conscious clothing and accessories available on ASOS.
“The responsible filter is a new way for customers to shop products made with more sustainable and recycled materials, wherever they are on-site.
“Look out for recycled goods, where waste, plastic and textiles have been recreated as new products, and sustainably-sourced fibres and fabrics, which use less water and are better for the environment.”
On top of that, ASOS has also launched a recycled swimwear collection, which helps lower the impact on the planet and keep things circular. From fabric scraps to fishing nets, waste is processed back into new fibres; saving water, energy and reducing both greenhouse gas emissions and crude-oil use, too. Genius.
“We know there’s so much more for us to do, and we want to make it as easy as possible for our customers to shop responsibly, so we’re looking forward to sharing more in future,” added a spokesperson.
As one of the world’s most popular fast fashion e-tailers, we’re super impressed with ASOS’ efforts to make a change (especially in light of Missguided’s £1 bikini earlier this month…!).
