The universal claims are bold, but the science backs it. This clever blush reacts to the moisture levels in your skin to give you an entirely bespoke rosy hued finish. Ariel calls it the “babydoll glam” and the secret is allegedly and simply a lot of this blush!
Okay, sounds easy enough. Of course, we can’t be all-talk, so we’ve decided to put this blush to the test, on five different complexions and here are five people’s honest thoughts.
The attachment that a lot of people out there have for blusher is often with good reason. Blushers can transform any look, they can help you appear more awake, more energised and add dimension to the face. We’ve tried a lot of them – a lot. This Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush promises to be a colour awakening universal blush, providing anyone at any complexion with a natural healthy glow. So what exactly would it take to make this one out of some many out there a winner?
We’ll tell you what: TikTok and Kylie Jenner. Most beauty fiends out there will be hooked by that alone. TikTok has put us on some of the coolest beauty hacks and makeup trends, on our radar and who wouldn’t want a billionaire approved makeup product?
Reportedly this blush is the one that Kylie Jenner’s very own MUA Ariel uses on her and since we found out, the beauty corner of TikTok has been obsessed!

When I first opened the compact I was hit with a bubblegum shade of pink which concerned me slightly – I’m usually one for peachy shades, so I didn’t know if this would suit me. On application, however, I was proven totally wrong. The bright pink diffused out to a powdery rose tone and gave my cheeks a perfect flush of colour instead of making me look like the porcelain doll I half expected, it applied seamlessly over my foundation and I didn’t even have to blend it out.
The only down side for me is that, although it’s called Rosy Glow blush, I found it quite mattifying. There is a tiny sparkle to the pigment when you look at it closely, but I didn’t find that it transferred to my face at all. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you don’t mind a matte finish, but the name could be a bit misleading. Since testing it, I’ve used it every day and have even tried it as eyeshadow (#versatile).

I’ll be honest, as much as I love Dior, this bubblegum baby pink blush didn’t excite me at first, as I couldn’t see it working against my dark complexion. I love blush, it’s definitely a desert island beauty product for me, but I usually light up when I see a dark and warm hue. I always found that purple undertones on blush worked best for deeper skin tones, and have stuck by that religiously. However, since this one is supposed to be a universal colour awakening shade, I decided to give it a go and I was pleasantly surprised.
Firstly, the compact is gorgeous, the Dior imprint makes it so chic, and having a little mirror makes it perfect for on-the-go. On application the texture is smooth, and glided-on easily. It was on the ashier side at first, but two swipes and it warmed up and looked very flattering. I applied from cheek to cheek, going over and across my nose, for a ‘meet cute’ and flushed look. It’s matte, so I didn’t really see that glowy effect I expected, but I also don’t care for too much shimmer on my blusher so this didn’t bother me. Dior this is why I love you. *vigorous finger snaps*

I was very excited to try this blusher when I laid eyes on it. Why? Because according to TikTok sleuths and MUAs alike, this is the blusher that *the* Kylie Jenner uses.
Admittedly, Rosy Glow is a little more on the cool-toned end of the colour spectrum when it comes to shades I’d reach for. Typically I go for warmer shades like corals and berries. The end result, though, is gorgeous. The colour helped inject a healthy, subtle glow back into my cheeks, which is much needed with the cold I’ve picked up. My one flaw would be that on my skin tone, I felt I had to use a little more product than usual to see a noticeable difference, but colour me impressed nonetheless (even though it didn’t provide me with a billionaire status like KJ).

What I want from a blusher: a pop of warmth (absolutely essential after our non-event of a summer). A pick-me-up, brightening effect. The kind of natural-looking flush that looks like I’ve just come back from a brisk walk #wholesome. But above all, to do all this without too obviously shouting ‘I’m wearing blusher! ’
I tried Dior Backstage Rosy Glow in shade 001 Pink, and my first impressions on opening the compact are that it is pink. Think: highlighter pen pink. Given the super-bright colour I was initially dubious that this blush would end up looking anything but extra on, not ideal when you’re more of a no-makeup-makeup type. But when I tapped it onto the apples of my cheeks and blended it out, it turned the prettiest shade of subtle, glowy rose. It even managed to brighten up my ‘office air con meets 4pm slump’ face – no easy feat.
A little does go a long way with this product, but you can really build it up if you’re looking for popping colour payoff. And it lives up to its rosy name by smelling like actual roses. Who doesn’t want a little Dior in their makeup bag?

As a recent blush fanatic, the best-selling Dior Backstage Rosy Glow was at the top of my list. There comes a time in every makeup wearers life that they “grow up” and blusher soon becomes a vital step in your base routine. This blush is it and as the ultimate day-to-night blush, it is a must for any kit. As a day look, it gives a healthy glow which is needed when the sun isn’t shining. However, at night this blush, paired with a full face soft glam, is a game changer.
The pigment in the product is prominent but unlike most blushes, it’s very easy to build that glow without being too harsh. My one application tip would be for light strokes on the top of the cheekbone, allowing the custom pink shade to really come through. The product is forgiving in its placement, and is easy to blend with other base products to create a seamless look. This blush has become my go-to and hasn’t let me down yet!
