We recreated TikTok’s favourite lip liner hack

EnterTries: the weekly Instagram series which sees GLAMOUR editors do all of the time-consuming (and expensive) work for you.

There’s no better pastime than testing out the coolest new skincare/makeup/hair trends and snazzy innovations in beauty tech from the comfort of your own home. That said, there’s nothing more frustrating than spending upwards of £100 on a new at-home facial system or snazzy pair of hair straighteners, only to find out they don’t *actually* work.

Yep, we’ve been busy trying out all of the wacky and wonderful beauty crazes to take the internet (read: TikTok) by storm – from BaByliss’ Hydro Fusion Air Styler (the rotating hot air brush of dreams) to CurrentBody’s Skin LED Precision and Fanola’s No Yellow Foam Conditioner. These are the products every influencer/gen-Z beauty slueth/beauty editor is talking about on the internet – but that you want to be sure about before parting with your money.

Thanks to GLAMOUR Tries, you won’t need to waste your hard-earned pennies on testing these innovations yourself. We’re getting in their first, giving you the lowdown and making sure you invest in products that genuinely work. Like what you see? You can shop all of the products seen on GLAMOUR tries in previous weeks down below. Race ya?

On GLAMOUR Tries this week, Beauty and Entertainment Assistant Sheilla Mamona tested the beauty hack you’ll almost *definitely* have seen on TikTok of late, in celebration of it being Lipstick Day. It is, of course: the lip liner hack.

“I’ve seen this a couple of times of TikTok so I’m going to try it out for the first time – if it goes wrong, please don’t judge me – and I’m going to go all out and use a red. ” Sheilla says before showing the lip products she’ll be using; the Pat McGrath Labs Permagel Ultra Lip Pencil in the shade Living Legend and the MatteTrance Lipstick in the shade Elson.

“The hack seems pretty simple,” Sheilla says, “it essentially just gives you a really easy way of achieving the perfect lip line. It looks like it could be crazy but I’m just going to give it a go! ”

Sheilla follows the TikTok hack’s method before showing her results: “I mean…ok! I think maybe I just need to fill them out. ” She says, applying more product. “That’s actually really good. That’s better than what I could have done with a free hand. It went over the lip line just ever so slightly to give a bigger and more plumped lip, but not too much. This is super simple but I’m actually really impressed! ”

In the meantime, here are all of the products you’ve seen on Tries over the past few weeks. Happy shopping!
