We rated the best eyelash serums that will give you fuller, fluttery looking lashes

The problem is, our quest for fuller, feathery lashes may well be hindering rather than helping proceedings. Naturally, we have around 200-300 lashes on each eyelid, we lose roughly four lashes a day and it takes about three months for them to grow to their full length, before they shed and the whole process starts again.

But, in our effort to make our lashes (which, on average, reach about 1cm in length), even longer and fuller, we’re putting our peepers under undue stress.

Full, thick lashes: there’s nothing like ‘em. Who can say no to ginormo puppy dog eyes? Nobody. That’s who. So, frankly, the bigger they are, the better.

Regular mascara use can make our lashes dry and brittle, making them more likely to break off. Over-vigorous makeup removal can exponentially increase the amount of lashes we shed each evening and eyelash curlers can place stress at the base of our lashes, prising them out early. Strip lashes and lash extensions, too, can create damage by overloading the lashes, while misplaced glue can lead to lash loss.

Alongside cleansing away our mascara gently with a product designed to lift stubborn formulas without tugging (and oil cleanser is particularly good for this), we want to be reconditioning and replenishing our lashes each evening to mitigate breakage and create a healthy environment for new lashes to grow.

The answer? A ruddy good lash serum. Specifically, one filled with peptides, vitamins, and lash-promoting ingredients.
