Wayfair Announces Tastemaker Awards Winners
Last night in Boston, Wayfair Professional, the trade section of the online furnishings company, presented five firms with its annual Trade Tastemaker Awards.
Out of more 5,000 entries, judges – investor Barbara Corcoran, hospitality architect Stephen Sousa, and AD design reporter Hadley Keller (yours truly) – selected one winner each for hospitality design (Elizabeth Ingram Studio for State of Grace restaurant), residential design (Marie Flanigan Interiors), office design (Patina Design), most innovative space (Favreau Design), and design of the year (PROjECT. interiors). The winners celebrated with a tour of the Wayfair headquarters and an awards ceremony and dinner.
Egg Collective Opens Designing Women II
Girls rule again at Egg Collective. The New York company has opened the second iteration of its Designing Women<251 –> show, started – to much success – last year. This year’s theme is “Masters, Mavericks, and Mavens,” and features work by the likes of Bari Ziperstein, Cini Boeri, Katie Stout, Sabine Marcelis, and others, all curated by the Egg Collective founders in partnership with Kinder Modern’s Lora Appleton.

Restaurant Torre Opens in Fondazione Prada Milan
Looking for a new dinner spot in Milan? Restaurant Torre is sure to be the city’s new chicest spot. Located within the OMA-designed Fondazione Prada building, the bar and restaurant feature floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of the city below. The views inside are just as good: Art by Jeff Koons and William N. Copley hangs alongside custom wall-hung plates by artists including John Baldessari in an ongoing collaboration. As for the furniture? Tulip tables and Executive chairs by Eero Saarinen, to name a few.
West Elm Launches Children’s Line
Midcentury-modern-obsessed parents, rejoice! West Elm has teamed up with Pottery Barn Kids to release a line of nursery and children’s furniture, available through both companies now. Rohl Opens Flagship in Merchandise Mart
Chicago’s famous Merchandise Mart welcomed a huge new resource for plumbing and hardware with the opening of the House of Rohl flagship there this week. Located in the Mart’s Luxe Home section (suite 135, to be exact), the 1,800-square-foot showroom presents products from across Rohl’s worldwide brands, from Montreal-based Riobel to British Perrin Rowe and Victoria + Albert – and, of course, Rohl’s healthy array of items.
