Watch Courtney Love Warn Us About Harvey Weinstein Way Back in 2005

Courtney Love has never been one to hold her tongue, and while that sometimes gets her into trouble, in this instance, she couldn’t have been more on point in her statement.

Thanks to TMZ, video has surfaced of the Hole frontwoman on the red carpet at the 2005 Comedy Central Roast of Pamela Andersonwarning us all about Harvey Weinstein’s lecherous ways a full 12 years before they were made public.

“What advice do you have for young women in Hollywood? ” a young Natasha Leggero asks Love, who hesitates, saying“I’ll get libeled if I say it. ” But she continues:“If Harvey Weinstein invites you to a private party in the Four Seasons, don’t go. ” And, as we now know, this is truly excellent advice!

While Hollywood fixtures like Meryl Streep and George Clooney have insisted that “not everyone knew” about Weinstein’s behavior, the fact that it was such an open secret that Courtney Love was talking about it on the red carpet sort of weakens their case.

. @Courtney Love’s advice in 2005: “If Harvey Weinstein invites you to a party at the Four Seasons, don’t go. ”

Although I wasn’t one of his victims, I was eternally banned by CAA for speaking out against #HarveyWeinstein #rape

Love recently tweeted in response to the video: “Although I wasn’t one of his victims, I was eternally banned by CAA for speaking out against Harvey Weinstein. ” The CAA, or Creative Arts Agency, is a major talent agency where Weinstein had powerful friends. Following the recent accusations against him, he reportedly even looked to friends at the agency for help but was ultimately rebuffed.

Whatever the repercussions, Love’s willingness to speak out during a time when many others – including the New York Times – were able to be silenced is pretty admirable.
