What was once an awful experience, the stubbed toe is now one of the chicest things to happen to your hooves. If you’re still struggling to catch on – it’s been a long week – then we are, of course, referring to the square-toe shoe. More specifically, the boot.
Just when you thought the pointed toe had returned to the forefront of the fashion world’s radar, it’s time to switch your focus entirely and instead point your sartorial antenna towards something entirely more blunt.
Yes, we hate to be the ones to break it to you, but summer is almost over. It is. And the sooner we face up to it the easier it’ll be. But it’s not all bad news… while this no doubt puts an end to long evenings and ice cold Whispering Angel of a Tuesday evening (although, if you ask us, that should never end), the imminence of September naturally means that it’s time to start thinking about your autumn wardrobe – and there’s nothing more autumnal than the ankle boot. (Okay there are leaves and Halloween and pumpkin spice lattes, but this is a fashion article so please let’s not start all that).
What may initially seem like a particularly ‘high fashion’, directional trend which you wouldn’t dare even begin to entertain, this is actually one of the easiest try your hand at this season. After all, experimenting with your footwear repertoire is far less daunting than, say, a dress. If you decide you hate them on your way to dinner then you can relax your mind by remembering that they’ll be hidden beneath the table for a large proportion of the evening.
But that’s a negative mindset. Why *would* you hate them?!
