Here to answer all these questions is global fashion search platform, Lyst, who have just released 2019’s second quarterly report ranking the fashion industry’s hottest brands and products.
So you know your fashion brands, you have a select few influencers whose style you’re obsessed with, and you like to think you know which trends are ranking highly at any point. But do you know *exactly* which products are selling out.
It’s all well and good jumping onto the ‘Dad sandal’ bandwagon, but God forbid you buy the wrong pair. Or the ‘It’ bag… you know the brand and the size to head for, but which colourway hits the jackpot?
Names on the list of brands is somewhat to be expected, with Gucci, Off-White, Balenciaga, Valentino, Prada, Versace and Fendi all in the top 10, but when it comes to the products there are a few surprises. Including a high street classic that almost all of us have on our hooves this summer…
1. Off-White ℅ Virgil Abloh – 1.4 Jitney bag
Part of the brand’s Pre-Fall collection, demand was building weeks before its actual release on June 14th when sold out across multiple retailers in a matter of days.
2. Teva – Hurricane XLT2
The ‘ugly’ shoe has moved on from trainers, and ‘dad’ sandals are now officially the hottest shoe of the season. Searches for Teva Hurricane have been up 350% globally over the last three months.
3. Chloé – C Mini Croc-Effect Shoulder Bag
As huge as we predicted back in January, The C was the most-viewed product for the French house this quarter – responsible for driving a 900% quarter on quarter increase in global searches for the brand.
4. Adidas Originals + Ji Won Choi – Striped Bodysuit
5. Bottega Veneta – The Pouch
This bag has entirely taken over Instagram, thanks to the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and constantly sells out – sparking more than 10,000 views a month since its launch.
6. Topshop – Strappy Sandals
At the opposite end of the shoe spectrum to the ‘dad’ shoe, barely-there strappy sandals are the ‘out out’ kicks of the season. Pairs by The Row, Staud and By Far are also amongst the most-searched styles, but Topshop’s affordable take has delivered the most sales to date.
7. Onia x WeWoreWhat – One Piece
8. Ralph Lauren – Tie Dye Polo T-Shirt
9. Isabel Marant – Tundra Boiler Suit
Boiler suits are back in a big way this summer, with Isabel Marant’s mesh-panelled denim one the most popular of the lot.
10. Love Shack Fancy – Angie Silk Dress
One of our favourite dress brands this summer, Love Shack Fancy’s Angie silk dress landed itself the last spot thanks to its flattering shape and irresistible florals.
