Desperate to unearth the secrets behind Kendall’s pared back beauty look, as well as all of the festival beauty secrets we can steal for the summer ahead, we grilled her makeup artist, Mary Phillips, for every single hack, product recommendation and technique the reality TV star and model swears by.
Coachella came and went this weekend quicker than you could say ‘ferris wheel’ and aside from the glitter bras and incredible celebrity style, we couldn’t stop marvelling at Kendall Jenner’s beauty look.
Kendall’s step-by-step festival beauty look
“Kendall always looks naturally glam but she looks much more glowy for Coachella this year,” said Mary.
Prep is key to Kendall’s beauty look and Mary says she always starts with Creme de La Mer on clean skin. Mary used Soft Luminous Lifting Cushion Foundation in Beige Nude all over for ‘fresh, flawless skin’ followed with Nudestix Nudies Matte all over the face in Sunkissed to add warmth and depth to the skin. She then finished the skin with ICONIC London’s liquid Illuminator in “original” for that ‘popping cheekbone highlight’ and on the high points of her face for a radiant glow.
Staying true to her roots, Kendall’s lips were lined with KKW Nude 02 Lipliner and topped them with ICONIC London London’s Lip Plumping Gloss in shade “Nearly Nude”. She did a swipe of green La Femme Eyeshadow wash over the whole lid and used Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara on her lashes.
Mary’s predictions for the biggest festival beauty trends of 2019
“Festival looks tend to be more playful with all the bells and whistles. You can get away with a lot more things than you can for daily life or red carpets,” says Mary.
So which beauty trend will be the go-to this festival season? “Definitely a glossy lip,” she maintains. “I think with Coachella taking place in the dry desert climate, a glossy lip is a perfect refreshed and hydrated look.”

Ensuring your makeup lasts from first light to lights out at a festival is no mean feat, which is why Mary swears by ‘lightly baking’ – the technique that sees a powder piled on top of foundation and concealer to set the base.
“I like very sheer natural looking makeup and to keep it looking it’s best I recommend light touch-ups throughout the day,” says Mary.

Mary says that applying highlighter on the body to glow from head-to-toe is the ultimate festival beauty secret weapon. “ICONIC London is the perfect brand for highlight because of the Illuminator’s concentrated pigment.
