This is what I thought of its anti-ageing powers

After proving a best-seller in Korea, the J. One Hana Cream has finally launched in the UK at our beloved Boots. Dubbed ‘the caviar of skincare’, and selling four every minutes in Sephora, the ‘cream’ is actually tiny capsules containing potent proteins, antioxidants and peptides.

Clinical trials revealed that 71 – 76 per cent of testers saw a significant decrease in wrinkles around the eye, nasolabial fold, glabella and neck area after just two weeks of application.

BEAUTY BIO:

Combination skin (oily t-zone, dry everywhere else). I’m just beginning to develop lines and wrinkles, particularly around the eye area.

J. ONE HANA CREAM REVIEW:

Based on the name alone, I had no idea I was going to open this cream to find a pot of tiny, white and wet-looking balls staring back at me. But it was a very pleasant surprise indeed.

Unlike any other capsules I’ve tried before, these ones aren’t contained within a throwaway film, but burst in their entirety to then be spread and absorbed into the skin. They reminded me of the Japanese mochi balls you can sometimes get at frozen yoghurt places.

They’re a bit slippery in texture, but the pot comes with a little scooping tool to help you extract a singular ball, which I would then placed in my fingers to burst before spreading onto my face. One capsule is the recommended dose, but I found I needed to use two – one for my face and one for my neck and decolletage.

The first thing I noticed about it was the smell. It has a strong scent of baby powder, which will be pleasant for those who enjoy the fragrance, but not so much for those who don’t. You literally end up smelling like an adult baby.

The cream itself is very rich, kind of reminding me of a shea butter, and leaves the skin feeling instantly hydrated and wrapped in a blanket of moisture.

I expected my skin to look a bit oily after application, but as you can tell from the photo, my face soaked most of it up and just left me with a hydrated glow.

It had a pretty impressive plumping effect for just one application, and sit well under my makeup once I applied it afterwards. However, I did switch to using it at night, rather than morning once I realised how rich it was.

FINAL VERDICT:

After two weeks of use (one application of two capsules every night), I wouldn’t say my skin has dramatically transformed, but I have definitely noticed a distinctive smoothness in skin texture. Especially around my eye area where lines have begun appearing. What’s impressed me most about this product however, is the amazing capsule technology and texture of the little white pearls. K-Beauty has really raised the bar in that respect and I hope we see more moisturisers go this way!
