These Male Actors Will Also Wear All Black to Golden Globes to Protest Sexual Harassment

There are plans of a blackout at the upcoming Golden Globes on January 7. In protest against the industry’s sexual abuse epidemic, prominent actresses have pledged to wear all black to the ceremony.

According to multiple sources, Jessica Chastain, Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, and others will dress in black ensembles in solidarity with those who have been victims of sexual harassment and assault.

Many male actors, including Dwayne Johnson, Tom Hiddleston, and Armie Hammer, have now reportedly joined forces with the leading ladies of Hollywood. After several inquiries, celebrity stylist Ilaria Urbinati announced on Instagram that her male clients will also be wearing black to the awards ceremony.

“Because everyone keeps asking me… YES, the men WILL be standing in solidarity with women on this wearing-all-black movement to protest against gender inequality at this year’s Golden Globes,” she wrote. “At least ALL MY GUYS will be. Safe to say this may not be the right time to choose to be the odd man out here… just sayin…”

Dwayne Johnson took to the comments to confirm: “yes we will. ”

It has been reported that the decision to wear all black stems from the need to acknowledge that further discussions about gender inequality are needed in the film industry and beyond. Following the extensive allegations against Harvey Weinstein, actresses including Rose McGowan, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ashley Judd have spoken up about sexual misconduct, while others like Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet have shared their support for the victims.

While wearing all black with their female colleagues is a small step, we hope to see more powerful men actually speak up in support of women. Or, as suggested by Minnie Driver, simply shut up and listen for once.
