These Extreme Cut-Out Jeans Are Selling Out For Summer

Just when we thought we had seen it all as far asstrange style statements go, a denim company from Los Angeles released a pair of jeans that aren’t really jeans at all.

The “extreme cut-out” by Carmar Denim is described as a “high-rise pant with large statement cutouts on the front and back. ” In other words, the pants (if we can even call them that) are made of barely any fabric – we’re talking a waistband and a few seams down the legs. However, they do feature a full front zipper and two front pockets for, you know, functionality.

While this isn’t the first time we’re seeing the viral style (Japanese designer Meiko Ban debuted barely-there jeans during Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo in the fall), it’s the first ready-to-wear pair we’ve come across in the states.

Carmar claims to cater to “the free-spirited generation of today” with its California-inspired, cutting-edge collections. It has become a bestseller in stores like LF, which is known for its super trendy styles as seen on stars and social media influencers. In fact, you may remember last year when Kendal Jenner, the world’s most popular model on Instagram, stepped out in a similar pair of cut-out pants, inventing what was dubbed then as the “invisible jean” trend.

The Extreme Cut Out Pant, for those who dare to bare ?

When the pants premiered on Instagram last week, consumers seemed confused. “This has be to a joke,” many commenters wrote. “Good thing they have a zipper and a button at the crotch otherwise she’d be over exposed,” said one sarcastic follower. Shockingly, though, the pants are completely sold out. And despite the lack of fabric used to make them, these jeans aren’t cheap. They are priced at $168 a pair. It looks like less is more.
