The slight silver lining is that demand for beauty treatments has never been so high, with everyone keen to book in for a last-minute hair cut, brow tidy or gel manicure while they still can.
To cater to this influx, many at-home beauty service apps have made the decision to stay open all night up until the lockdown comes into force on Thursday.
The news that we will soon be entering a second lockdown is disappointing and frightening for a number of reasons. Firstly, and most importantly, it signifies a rise in the number of cases of Covid-19.
But the new restrictions will have a huge knock on impact, including for the beauty salons and services, which fall under “non-essential” businesses and will have to close their doors once again, putting thousands of livelihoods on the line.
So what are you waiting for? Support the beauty industry and book in for that treatment – because, let’s be honest, who knows when you’ll next be able to.
Mobile beauty and wellness app Secret Spa is staying open all night tonight and until 11pm on Wednesday 4th to provide at-home services, including waxing, brows, lashes and hair for customers who live in London, Manchester and Brighton.
“With both customers and professionals asking us to extend our opening hours over the coming days, and with our network of freelance beauty and wellness professionals facing weeks of complete loss of work, we felt it was our duty to remain continuously open until Wednesday at midnight,” says Emily Ewart-Perks, co-founder of Secret Spa.
Since the lockdown was announced on Saturday evening, Secret Spa have seen a 400% increase in demand for waxing as well as haircutting.
“Secret Spa saw overwhelming support from its customers after the first lockdown as well as record numbers of new customers each month as home appointments have increasingly become the choice of the public. We are confident we can weather the storm and look forward to offering treatments safely at home as soon as regulations lift.”
“Following the announcement we sold out of some treatments within hours (haircut, colour, massage facials), so we’ve had to extend our opening times and open up more slots for our customers who are desperate for beauty maintenance or wellness services to see them through this lockdown,” says Fiona McIntosh, founder of Blow LTD.
Blow LTD provides at-home, salon-quality services to customers in London, Manchester and Birmingham.
As London’s first digital beauty concierge service, Ruuby is used to taking appointments at any time throughout the day and night (their Black Label service offers 24/7 access to their beauty experts). However, founder Venetia Archer has noticed a significant increase in post-11pm bookings over the past few days.
From LVL lash treatments, to high tech Dr Barbara Sturm facials, to reflexology, Ruuby offers an array of restorative, expert beauty treatments.
