These are the 5 beauty trends we’re all going to be embracing courtesy of the Love Island cast

So, that’s it then. After eight magnificent weeks, Love Island is over. We finally have our evenings back, and let’s be honest, we’re not sure what to do with them. It feels uncharacteristically sociable agreeing to plans beyond 8:30pm.

For some of us, the faint murmur of a DBS meeting and ‘I’ve got a text’ still rings in our ears, while others are wondering where the past two months went – should we have spent less time on the sofa watching perfect bottoms, and more time trying to sculpt our own in the gym?

Well, it’s not too late. Summer is still here, and now that Jani, Wegan, and Alex-squared have been released back into society, we’re looking back and reflecting on all the beauty lessons we learnt from Love Island 2018. Here’s what we’re all going to be embracing this summer courtesy of the cast…

From Georgia’s statement ponytail to Megan’s double-topknot, this series saw blow-drys relegated to second best in favour of the updo. Teamed with a pair of freshly manicured nails, the Love Island ladies kept glamour on the menu with their selection of quick and easy poolside styles. Our favourite? French braids a-la Megan, quickly adopted by Laura, Georgia, Dani… and the rest of Britain. To master the look, freshen roots and add texture with a spritz of dry shampoo, then reverse your braiding action to expose the plait detail.

Lesson 2. SPF matters.

Take it from Alex, sunburn is not a good look. While some people can get away with using SPF30, it’s important to know the level of sun exposure your skin can handle. If in doubt, go high with your sun cream – there’s nothing wrong with slathering on some factor 50, and trust us, your future self will thank you for it. For day-to-day protection, be sure to add one of these into your skincare regime.

Lesson 3. Strong trumps skinny.

The moment New Laura burst onto the scene, heads were turned. And it’s no surprise. With abs to rival Wes’, her toned torso had us contemplating a re-match with the surfboard. And don’t even get us started on Kaz’s glorious physique. If you’re wondering where to start, these health and fitness reads are sure to inspire a muscle or two. Drop it like a squat.

Lesson 4. Long hair, definitely care.

We thought jaw-skimming bobs were having a moment, but not in the villa. Apart from Megan, new Laura, Charlie from Bath, and that energetic dancer with the curly crop, if hair didn’t stretch to waist-tickling lengths, Love Island weren’t interested. Cue hair extensions – good or bad (ahem, Ellie), as long as they’re… well, long. To ensure your locks are more Rapunzel than Rasputin, we recommend paying Glamour-approved Great Lengths a visit.

Lesson 5. There’s no such thing as too much highlighter.

To master Megan’s skyscraper cheekbones, or Samira’s ultra-glow from every angle, apply a generous helping of reflective powder, dusted over high points of the face. Then layer. We repeat, do not hold back. Here are a few of our radiance-enhancing favourites.
