Minus having my head chopped off, please. BaubleBar Nova tennis necklace, $58, available here.
When it comes to personal style, I have maintained three very different inspirational sources for over a decade: Blair Waldorf, Alexa Chung and Kirsten Dunst in Sofia Coppola’s 2006 movie “Marie Antoinette. ” (One day I’ll figure out the thread between Alexa and the other two. )
Now, I’m hardly going to walk around New York City in arobe à la française. (Though, I wouldn’t turn down an invite to one of Versailles’s masked costume balls! ) Instead, I mostly find inspiration through Coppola’s dreamy, macaron-tinted lens.
Dunst wears so many pretty pastels, piles of ruffles and bows, and jewelry that looks like gobs of candy – basically my dream #aesthetic, albeit with a slightly more modern twist.
So imagine my delight when BaubleBar released its summer jewelry line filled with plenty of oversized earrings and statement necklaces in big, bright jewels. I was immediately drawn to this multicolored choker – what they’re calling a “tennis necklace” – which would add a dose of Marie Antoinette to even the simplest of outfits with minimal effort. And the best part is, at $58, it doesn’t come in at a royal price, either.
