Women dominated the 2018 Screen Actors Guild Awards last night in Los Angeles, and as awards season marches on, we continue to be inspired by both the talent and beauty of Hollywood’s leading ladies.
From classic chignons to Old Hollywood waves and, of course, plenty of bold red lips, there was no shortage of awe-inspiring hair and makeup at the 24th annual awards ceremony.
Below are some of the most glamorous looks of the night.
Mandy Moore
Nominated with the cast of This Is Us for best ensemble in a drama series, Moore paired her cobalt blue bespoke gown by Ralph Lauren with big, bouncy waves courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Ashley Streicher for Garnier.
After setting with velcro rollers, Streicher back-brushed the hair to give it a “’70s brushed-out vibe. ” Makeup artist Jenn Streicher used Laura Mercier to create a nude lip and shimmery eye.
Yara Shahidi
Celebrity hairstylist Nai’vasha Johnson looked to none other than Diana Ross for Shahidi’s natural curls.
Using a Mason Pierson brush, diffuser, and Taliah Waajid curl cream, she created ringlets reminiscent of the Disco Days. Lined eyes and metallic burgundy lips finished the look.
Margot Robbie
Nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role for her performance as Tonya Harding in I, Tonya, Robbie stunned in a pastel pink, feathered gown by Miu Miu.
“I felt like Margot’s dress resembled a beautiful dressing gown and wanted her to look like she rolled out of bed and threw it on with soft, natural hair,” said Moroccanoil celebrity hairstylist Bryce Scarlett. Bold brows and rosy lips complemented her textured tresses.
Tracee Ellis Ross
The Blackish star never disappoints. “Tracee is a minimalist and an adventurist when it comes to makeup. She is open to everything but unafraid to eschew trends in favor of what is right for her.
I love this about her,” said celebrity makeup artists Stephen Sollitto for Marc Jacobs Beauty. “So for this Ralph Russo gown we stayed true to ourselves and did a beautiful red lip and kept the makeup minimal. ” Her slicked-back hair kept the focus on her flawless complexion.
Allison Williams
Williams oozes Old Hollywood glitz and glamour with soft waves, bold lips, and thick-black lashes. “The silhouette of the dress gave me inspiration to keep it feminine and clean and show off her neck line.
This look embodies a fresh and chic take on the classic 1920’s waves,” said celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora for TRESemmé. “When choosing a beauty look, we were inspired by old Hollywood screen sirens, and chose to center the makeup around a bold red, classic lip,”adds celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan for Avon.
Alison Brie
Brie, who is currently filming her second season of Glow, lit up the red carpet in a sexy red gown by designer Peter Dundas’ namesake label and matching cherry lip.
To add an element of sophistication, Rebekah Forecast, a celebrity stylist for Oribe, swept Brie’s shag haircut into a twisted bun at the nape of her neck.
Lupita Nyong’o
With glistening skin and eyes and natural hair, Lupita Nyong’o was simply stunning.
“I wanted to play off the iridescent sheen of her dress that reminds me of beautiful, sleek serpent by focusing on the shine on eyes and reflect that serpent-like quality with fierce eyeliner and luminous skin,” said celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose for Lancôme.
Nicole Kidman
Kidman, who won outstanding performance by a female actor for her role in Big Little Lies, chose a classic chignon and red lipstick, once again proving beauty is ageless.
In fact, she used her acceptance speech to call out ageism in the industry, saying:“Twenty years ago, we were pretty washed up by this stage in our lives. That’s not the case now. We’ve proven that we are potent and powerful and viable! ”
Taylor Schilling
Celebrity makeup artist Tina Turnbow used JAFRA cosmetics in silver, gray, and black tones to create Schilling’s dramatic smokey eye, which was paired with a messy bouffant and metallic accessories.
