The first trailer for She Said, the Harvey Weinstein investigation movie

She Said – the upcoming movie that will look into the investigations that took place around Harvey Weinstein, the now disgraced movie mogul – has just dropped a heart-breaking trailer, with a release date confirmed for later this year.

Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan are set to play Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor respectively, the New York Times reporters whose investigation gave a voice to the #MeToo movement.

Twohey and Kantor went on to author She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement, which tells the story of their investigation from the beginning and inspired the name of the film.

Here’s everything we know so far.

When is She Said out?

It’s set to be released on 18 November 2022 – this has been confirmed for US cinemas, we assume UK release will be on the same day, but no confirmation yet.

What is She Said about?

She Said will look at what these reporters did to investigate the allegations made about Weinstein so that they could be brought to mainstream attention.

Thanks to their work, Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison and multiple women felt able to share their stories of abuse, that for years had been suppressed.

Out of that came the #MeToo movement, which prompted stories beyond Weinstein to come to the surface.

Who’s working on the film?

Emmy winner Maria Schrader is directing this piece, as she did for Netflix’s Unorthodox, while British playwright Rebecca Lenkiewicz has written the script. It seems only right that two women are at the helm of telling this story.

Mulligan made waves last year in black comedy psychological thriller Promising Young Woman, while Kazan has starred in TV series The Plot Against America, as well as quirky rom-coms such as The Big Sick and What If.
