Sweet tooth is a diagnosis for many women. For those who want to lose weight, it becomes almost a verdict: it is known that the sweet is the main enemy of a slender figure.
Opponents of restrictions in sweet argue that sugar is needed for brain work, and a piece of dessert is consumed without a twinge of conscience.
Which of them is right and what policy for sweet is worth choosing, learned the correspondent of SE.
Introduction to Chemistry
To say that carbohydrates are the main enemies of a figure, as it is often claimed, is at least unreasonable. Carbohydrate hydrocarbon is different, and the bad service was served by the fact that this product is digested faster than others. Getting into the body, the molecule of sucrose (what is made up of white sugar) is split into glucose and fructose. The first to enter the battle is glucose – it is included in the carbohydrate metabolism and provides the body with fast energy, and the brain – nutrition.
“This is the product that first goes to the energy consumption of the body, with the neural tissue it is absorbed directly, without insulin. To absorb glucose, the body does not need any additional efforts. Fructose has such a structure that it is absorbed 3 times slower than glucose, so the sugar level rises more slowly, “says a dietitian, endocrinologist of the Siberian Federal Center for Healthy Nutrition Olga Poznyak. According to her, eating sugar, a woman gaining weight for the following reason:
“Expending primarily the simplest carbohydrates, the body takes on the fat contained in food, and only then – for the fats contained in fat stores. ”
In other words, the whole thing is in a cunning organism, which seeks to work with the lowest energy reserves. If the calories from the eaten are enough for him, he will spend it for his own needs, and his own resources will prefer not to bother. If, however, he has received even surplus from the eaten – he will save it with pleasure. And sugar, as a product of the first echelon, remains in any case “extreme”. That is guilty. Although in fact is only the tip of the iceberg of complex body chemistry.
The bitter aftertaste
Know about the harmfulness of sweets know, perhaps, everything. First of all, grandmother’s terrible warnings about spiteful diabetes mellitus are recalled. “If you have an inherited predisposition to diabetes, the provoking factor can be any provoking factor – acute stress, inaccuracies in nutrition or overloading with sweets, when an imperfect by nature mechanism fails,” says Olga Poznyak. Noting that the most dangerous are the sharp jumps in blood sugar, and not the fact of eating sweet as such.
Another, but already more common fact: the sweetness of many of us immediately manifests on the face – in the form of pimples. As the dermatocosmetologist, the head of the course of therapeutic cosmetology of the NGMU Irina Peskova says, the errors in nutrition cause additional irritation of the receptors in the sebaceous glands, and they begin to actively produce sebum. We all are familiar with the sad consequences.
As doctors jokingly remark, sweet love everything, including bacteria – are the culprits of many of our problems. Problems with both the skin (bacteria live in clogged pores) and with the teeth – the cause of caries is not the sweetie, but the bacteria that multiply on the grassy field of the remaining elements between the teeth.
Sublimation of love
In fact, most women are not bothered at all with a spoonful of sugar in the morning tea, but that the need for sweetness acquires a truly universal dimension. And the spoon does not work anymore. If you suddenly found that you can not imagine your life without a cake for tea, you should check with the therapist to rule out a possible unpleasant diagnosis of problems with the body.
Most likely the doctor will say that you are healthy. Then it is necessary to do micro-psychoanalysis. Take a sheet and write down all the emotions that you experience at different times. Surely you will find something in common. There you should look for the reason.
According to Alexei Markov, psychotherapist, director of the medical and psychological center Doctor Bormental, cravings for sweets are often associated with the person’s taste preferences, which come from childhood: “Sweet foods in our minds are firmly connected with the holiday we received as a child. Behind the desire to eat something sweet is the desire to pamper yourself.
To get rid of the uncontrollable craving for sweets, you need to ask yourself one question: what emotions do you associate with this epithet in your life have a deficit – and only after that start taking action.
A simple rejection of your favorite products will mean that you have closed your eyes to the problem, and it will only worsen. ”
Not the fruit of a single
While you are engaged in self-discovery, which eventually leads to the identification of the problem, you will certainly want to succumb to the temptation to reduce caloric content due to substitutes. It is usually recommended to replace white sugar with honey or dried fruits. But they are no less caloric than sugar in itself, so the use of these products in nemerenyh quantities your figure will not save. But saturates with useful microelements and vitamins.
However, those who replace sugar with sweet fruit, are still a minority. Too great is the temptation to buy a package of sweetener, which in abundance was divorced on the shelves of stores. But not all of them are equally useful. Olga Poznyak recommends looking at the label to find out the composition of the product:
Fructose, which is sold in the departments of dietary nutrition, has the same energy value as glucose. But it is digested longer and does not cause such sharp jumps in the level of sugar in the blood.
Sweeteneraspartame, which often replace sugar in foods is not recommended to be used for pregnant women, because it can affect the formation of the nervous system of the fetus.
Xylitolandsorbitolare sweet substances of natural origin, are not carbohydrates and do not provoke the release of insulin. They contain “empty” calories and do not participate directly in either carbohydrate or fat metabolism. Therefore, your reserves will remain with you.
Sugary substitutes, which containcyclamateandsaccharin, are considered dangerous – they are banned in some countries of Europe, as animal tests have shown their carcinogenicity, although this is not confirmed in humans. Meanwhile, on our shelves they occupy a firm place and are in demand.
Last: sweeteners based on the extract of stevia – a plant that has a sweet taste – is today recognized as the most harmless. Suitable for everyone except hypotonic (stevia helps to reduce pressure).
If you carefully look at the variety of substances that manufacturers are replacing ordinary sugar today, you can note that natural substances are the least harmful, but they will not get rid of excess kilograms. Perhaps you should think about what you want to get by eating another piece of cake or chocolate?
