If you’ve just finished binge-watching season 4 of The Bold Type on Netflix and want to know exactly what is going to happen to Sutton (and the rest of the trio), then fear not: season 5 is finally here.
The show, which first aired in 2017, centres on three 20-something best friends: Sutton Brady-Hunter (Meghann Fahy), Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens) and Kat Edison (Aisha Dee) who all work at fictional glossy magazine, Scarlet. Season five aired in the US back in 2021 and UK fans have been desperately waiting to watch it — and now they can on BBC iPlayer.
Whilst Netflix aired seasons 1 — 4 of the show, they had no plans to release season five, but now we can finally indulge. If you’re a first-time viewer, or need to refresh your memory, BBC iPlayer is also streaming the first four seasons. Hooray.
While fans were treated to a mammoth 16 episodes in season 4, the fifth and final season only has six episodes — and we can’t wait to see what happens to the trio.
Over four years, we’ve seen how the trio’s personal and professional lives intersect as Jane becomes a fully-fledged journalist, stylist Sutton dabbles fashion design and Kat shifts from social media to the city council to now running a podcast for a women-only member’s group.
As for season 5, here’s what we know already (and newbies beware, spoilers ahead).
Which cast members will feature?
In the first season 5 table read-through (teased on Twitter earlier this year), The Bold Typestars gathered to go over exactly what’s in the new scripts and we can only wish we were flies on the wall.
While they didn’t give away any storyline secrets, Executive Producer Wendy Straker Hauser did confirm that our gals Aisha, Katie and Meghann would all reprise their on-screen roles.
