Since 2011, Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat have canvased the globe for untapped design talent to present at their annual NYCxDesign showcase WantedDesign (which now also boasts locations in both Brooklyn and Manhattan). This year’s Manhattan showcase, at Terminal Stores (271 Eleventh Avenue) until May 22, served up its usual dose of design discoveries straight from the studios of up-and-comers or the halls of prestigious design schools alongside cool collaborations with more established names in the industry such as Caesarstone, Cappellini, and Ligne Roset. Our recommendation? Stop by on your lunch break. It’s a refreshingly small-scale fair – you can even enjoy a guilt-free tasting menu at the Zero Waste Bistro (all constructed from renewable and recycled or recyclable materials), a pop-up of Helsinki-based Restaurant Nolla. But if you simply can’t make it, here are the collaborations, presentations, and debuts you’ll want to know about.
