Standouts included Rihannas hat – a pretty literal nod to the Pope; Madonnas crown and veil, which looked like something she might have worn on stage in the 80s; Kate Bosworths lovely fabric head covering; and Anne Hathaways futuristic bundle of gold sticks.
Crowns, tiaras and halo headpieces were especially popular, as were statement hair accessories and flowers.
As became clear quite early in the evening, a bulk of Mondays Met Gala attendees addressed this years theme with regal statement headwear.
There were certainly varying levels of relevance to the events“Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”theme, but the Met Gala red carpet has always been a bit of an “A for Effort” situation, and these stars committed. We (and Anna Wintour, probably) appreciate it.
