This totally mad perfume
Can banana ever smell elegant? You better believe it. Perfumer Celine Ellena has given it the couture treatment with jasmine, fig and tonka bean to bring out the creamy-dreamy tropical flavours, balanced with an under-ripe bite and lush jungle greens.
L’Artisan Parfumeur Bana Banana Eau de Parfum 100ml, £115

A perfect little eye palette
Three soft toffee shades and a not-at-all-scary glimmer shadow, all in a blush pink compact curated by fashion designer Ulla Johnson: we can’t think of a single mama who wouldn’t adore this.
Bobbi Brown x Ulla Johnson The Minou Eye Palette, £36.50

This bath-lover’s dream
When we polled some of our mums for their favourite ‘special occasion’ bath brand, Laura Mercier came up on top. The jar, the wooden dipper, the twirling ritual, that warm French patisserie scent… it’s the chicest tub she’ll ever get into.
Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille Honey Bath 300g, £37

This tiny tin of love
Errm… how adorbs is this?! You can get your Vaseline tin personalised with any name in original, cocoa butter or aloe vera flavours too, but we heart this rose-scented options because, well, PINK! (Orders are usually delivered within 48hrs after dispatch – so buy asap to arrive by the weekend!)
Vaseline Personalised Rosy Lips Tin, £2.99

The It candle
There’s a special place in our hearts for Scamp & Dude. It’s the clothing brand founded by entrepreneur Jo Tutchener-Sharp, inspired by a personal trauma and fuelled with kindness and superpowers (read Jo’s story here). She’s created self-care candles with Cowshed, and ‘Courage’ is packed with uplifting grapefruit and calming mandarin.
Cowshed x Scamp & Dude Courage Candle, £38

A planet-saving super soap
Stick with what you believe in and send the sustainability message up a generation with Aveda’s gorgeous Bath Bar. The (post-consumer recycled) paper wrapper conceals an invigorating soap that moisturises and leaves skin soft, not tight, all using certified organic and responsibly-sourced ingredients.
Aveda Rosemary Mint Bath Bar 200g, £14

An excellent facial kit
This skin-routine-in-a-box may look like a pampering treat but in truth you’ll be saving mum’s knackered skin. Generally we bow down to everything Elemis makes, but this edit (chosen by the founders of fashion brand RIXO) really does top the lot. It contains a nourishing mask, gentle peeling pads, a great all-round day cream and a jar of their insanely wonderful cleansing balm; plus a soft wash cloth and a cute RIXO hair scrunchy (all worth £121). And did we mention there’s a 15%-off discount card for Elemis.com and RIXO? *Steals*
Elemis x RIXO Beauty Edit, £65

A Rose like no other
If your mum loves the scent of roses, this new fragrance from Miller Harris is quite possibly the most beautiful we’ve ever smelt. A little powdery, a little dewy, it’s whisper-soft but climbs into clothes, hair and skin and stays put for hours if not days. Miller Harris has reduced its carbon footprint to be one tenth of what it was in 2017 with small-but-significant tweaks, such as eliminating cellophane packaging and offering silk scarf gift-wrapping (£10). Style it for mum by spraying it with the perfume and tying it on her handbag – beyond chic.
Miller Harris Rose Silence Eau de Parfum 100ml, £105

This bespoke beauty hit
If mum is a keen traveller, she’ll obvs need a special jet-set pouch for her perfume. At Atelier Cologne’s Covent Garden boutique they will emboss a leather pochette from a choice of 15 colours in less than five minutes. May we suggest their latest Spring ’19 scent, Pacific Lime – a fresh citrus and coconut cocktail.
Atelier Cologne engraved pouch, free with any 30ml fragrance purchase, £55

A dreamy spa voucher
It’s virtually impossible to get a proper facial or body treatment for under £100 in London – we’ve searched. But Caudalie offers a £70 facial, a £90 ‘premium’ facial and a £70 body massage or scrub (each 50mins), that use some of the best products imaginable. A special mention goes to their beautiful Covent Garden and Clapham spa boutiques where the treatments take place; the vibe is welcoming, gentle and thoughtful, so we’re 100% confident that your mum will feel totally at ease.
Caudalie Treatment Gift Voucher, from £70

The hit-refresh red lippy
We love it on us and we’re convinced your mama will love it too: Chanel’s new Rouge Coco Flash is part-lipstick, part-balm, with a juicy texture and long-lasting tint. From the 27 shades, Ultime is a failsafe option: it’s a classic pillarbox red with a coral undertone that livens up all complexion tones.
Chanel Rouge Coco Flash in Ultime, £31

Some great new bathroom accessories
If you can’t stretch to a spa minibreak, what about bringing the bliss into mum’s home instead? These accessories from 5-star luxury hotel Calcot Manor are insanely good value and great quality, such as the Bamboo Moisturising Gloves and Socks (£3 each), which she can wear while catching up on her boxset. Better yet, buy doubles of everything and have a mama-daughter night in together.
Calcot Manor at Tesco Bath and Shower collection, from £2

This hilarious diffuser
See those pencils? They’re not actual pencils. They’re ceramic sticks that absorb scented oil (just like traditional reed diffusers do) and emit a gorgeous fragrance into your home. So LOLs, so quirky, so clever, soooo spenny, but so worth it for a subtle scent of sugar-dusted travel sweets.
Anya Hindmarch Lollipop Diffuser, £99

A totally classic handwash
Because it’s the sort of thing mum would never buy for herself. We could have suggested a ton of newer, hipster or niche brands but honestly this is a winner for so many reasons. Among them: the instantly-recognisable luxiness, the guest-impress factor and the stunning aromas that fill the bathroom and make your hands smell delicious. If you’re not sure which one she’ll like, try English Pear & Freesia or Basil & Neroli, which are both mouth-wateringly fresh and elegant.
Jo Malone London Body & Hand Wash 250ml, £30

A new haul of makeup brushes
Pull her routine out of the make-up dark ages with this excellent set of simple but ace brushes (they’re great for powder or liquid blush and bronzer, and loose face powder). And this is where you come in: perform a mini tutorial to show her how to use that beauty blender and it will transform her foundation life.
Revolution at Superdrug Sculpt & Glow Brush Set, £9.99

Fashion’s most-wanted perfume
Be still our beating hearts. Hermes’ brand new fragrance is inspired by a secret garden in Venice, where wet greens and glistening flowers mix with sea-salty air – it is the most elegant cologne imaginable and not too overpowering.
Hermes Un Jardin Sur La Lagune Eau de Toilette 30ml, from £43

Anything L’Occitane basically
I mean who are we kidding right? Even the free samples at the till are swoon-worthy! There are treats from as little as £9 for a pot of multi-tasking Shea Butter, right through to huge gift boxes of fragrance and skincare. But this hand cream trio is a winner: the tiny tubes (original shea butter, cherry blossom and almond) are ideal for handbags or bedside tables, and the tin can be upcyled and reused. Plus, it’s super easy to wrap – yasss!
L’Occitane Must Have Hand Cream Trio, £21

A Morning Power Shower
It was hard to pick just one item from beloved Brit brand Temple Spa (have you tried their facials? They’re amazing), but this zingy shower scrub feels as uplifting as it looks and promises polished supersoft skin.
Temple Spa It’s A Wonderful Life Energising Body Shower Scrub 200ml, £15
