Travel-sized products, skin hydrators, glow-givers, bright makeup and hair revivers can take your look to the next-level – even when you’re beautifying in a confined space.
Here’s our pick of what to stash alongside your kimono, boots, bumbag, vodka and glitter this festival season…
OK, so there’s no hairdryer or full-length mirror, but you’re determined to rock killer festival looks day-after-day from beauty base camp, aka your tent – and we admire your commitment.
Wipes are a festival essential, but they’re not great for skin. We’re giving thanks, then, for these serum-soaked skin pads, 7-in1 Miracle Skin Mask Pads, £27, StarSkin. With exfoliating beads on one side, they act as a massage, exfoliator, toner, moisturiser, serum, mask and makeup primer in one. Count them as an in-tent mini facial.
“Create a fresh base to showcase a decorated look”, recommends makeup pro and Max Factor ambassador, Caroline Barnes. “Use a base with high SPF and a moisturising finish to keep skin fresh and hydrated with minimal effort.” Caroline loves Waso Colour Smart Day Moisturiser, £34, Shiseido. With carotene extracts, it plumps and moisturises, protects with an SPF 30, and the colour adapts to your skintone on application to give a healthy glow.
For full coverage where needed, use a stick concealer and blend with clean fingers, recommends Caroline. Her pick? Dermablend SOS Cover Stick, £15,Vichy.
For quick cleaning before you hit the hay, pack biodegradable wipes. Try Vitamin E Facial Cleansing Wipes, £7, The Body Shop.
No Glasto? No problem! Here are 13 equally amazing UK festivals to book ASAP
“Always define brows and lashes, then you can carry off any festival look,” advises Caroline. She recommends prepping in the comfort of your own bathroom with a semi-permanent product such as Tattoo Brow Easy Peel Off Tint, £12.99, Maybelline.
Use a tubing mascara over a waterproof version, recommends Caroline. “It doesn’t go cloggy and it’s less likely to flake off as the formula isn’t clumpy. Try Scandal Queen Mascara, £18.50 ,Fairydrops.
Add a swipe of colour with bright liner or mascara. Glitter Pop Peel-Off Eyeliner, £16, Too Faced , adds a strip of sparkle and it’s easy to take off at the end of the night (*ahem early morning*). Or brush up brows with colour using Extreme Lash and Brow Tint, £36,
Tom Ford. “Don’t opt for uniformity, make each eye different. Go high one side then low on the other,” says Caroline.
The brighter your lips, the better, but go for matte textures that last the dancing distance, says Caroline. GLAMOUR loves Lip Addict Lip Tattoo, £25, Dior. “Keep a balm on hand to moisten lips.”
No festival is complete without you own glitter kit. Model’s Own Glitter Mix (£9.99) is ideal for on-the-go and less-mess sparkles as it’s already pre-mixed with an adhesive, just swipe and go! Or if you want to really switch it up, try IGK’s Fomo (£19). It’s a holographic hair foam that adds a 3D, metallic colour effect that’s perfect for disguising greasy roots. Make sure you read our glitter how-to to get yourself fully prepared for twinkle town.
Next Day Hair
OK, so we wouldn’t leave home without a dry shampoo, like this space-saving version Dry Shampoo On The Go Blush, £1.50, Batiste. But if you want to switch up your looks, pack these other festival hair heroes.
On day two, keep the smooth going with these handy Anti-Frizz Hair Sachets, £20, Ouai. Stash in your bumbag and wipe over hair to smooth down flyways and gloss on the go. On day three, it’s time to go with texture. Amp up natural texture with Dry Texture Foam, £24,Ouai, that can be massaged into hair lengths and roots to give a great texture and root volume to your hairstyle.
And less prep time, more party time!
