I tried Simple’s most popular £2 moisturiser to see if it *really* deserves its cult status

It’s a skincare staple able to provide all the hydration and moisturise the skin needs for 12 hours while being hypoallergenic and tested by dermatologists, meaning it’s suitable for sensitive skins.

Plus, it offers SPF 15, vitamin E and B5 and glycerin to nourish the skin, without any of the skincare nasties that could cause irritation like perfume, artificial colours and harsh chemicals. Oh, and it’s only £2.14 at Boots.

BEAUTY BIO

My skin can be quite complicated. It’s sensitive, prone to blemishes and dry all at the same time, especially in the winter months when the change in temperatures between inside and outside makes everything worse. I usually steer clear of cream moisturisers in favour of serums in an attempt to avoid breakouts, so was a little trepidatious about trying this product.

THE REVIEW

The Hydrating Light Moisturiser (also available in a Rich version for anyone in need of a little more moisture) instantly absorbed into my dehydrated skin, instantly relieving dry areas and leaving my skin feeling comfortable and looking visibly refreshed and hydrated. After a week’s use, my skin is glowier and there’s no sign of blemishes.

The product experience isn’t particularly luxurious nor remarkable – the packaging is pretty plain and it doesn’t smell of much – but I’m not looking for frills when it comes to my skincare. I’d rather focus on a formula that delivers without irritating my skin – and this product does exactly that.

THE VERDICT

After poring over the plentiful 5-star reviews online, I can see why this simple yet effective formula has garnered its cult status. Whilst I usually prefer splurging a little more on harder working skincare products, this is ideal for anyone on a budget.
