Valentine’s Day gifts for the man in your life

The thing is, we’re really anti-cringe. Anything soppy, mushy and overtly romantic kinda makes us squirm a bit, so planning a fun Valentine’s Day that doesn’t scream CHEESE is quite the challenge.

Yup, it’s that time of year again (well, almost). Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and thoughts of date nights, funny Valentine’s Day cards and gifts are beginning to fill our brains.

A good place to start is by snapping up a nice Valentine’s Day gift for him – something genuinely useful, worth keeping and sans cliche. Because really – what man would actually appreciate a heart-shaped box of chocolate and pink bear? Exactly.

Knowing what to buy for your other half can be pretty tricky, and if like us, you want to branch out a little (for the first time ever), there are plenty of choices out there. We’ve scoured the web for the best Valentine’s Day gifts for him with class. Yanno, items which tell him how much he means to you but that he’ll also *actually* like.

It’s worth thinking about your other half’s interests before you splash the cash on his pressie. Is he into food (probably)? Drink (almost definitely)? Sport, running or travel? Fingers crossed we’ve covered all bases. From male grooming products to alcohol and experience days you can both enjoy together, we think we’ve done a pretty good job at whittling things down. Serious brownie points, incoming.

Oh, and once you’ve ordered a lovely gift for the hubby or boyf, you might want to treat your girls to something small, too (Galentine’s FTW). We’ve rounded up the best Valentine’s gifts for her right here.

The best Anti-Valentine’s Day cards that won’t make you cringe

I have to say – I’ve never really been one for Valentine’s Day. I love it as an excuse to order my fave takeaway, but there’s something about teddy bear and love heart-adorned cards (and apparent need for overtly soppy Instagram posts) which makes my toes curl. I don’t really want to buy my OH a card which has “to the love of my life” splashed across the front (whether he is or not), and I think he’d be a bit cringed out if I did.

As Valentine’s Day preparations start to heat up, I’ve noticed said greetings cards flood the floors of every supermarket up and corner shop up and down the country. And as lovely as they are for some people, they’re not my cup of tea. What if, like me, you’re after something funny and a tad unusual to put a smile on the face of your famously unsoppy partner? Or what if you’re happily single but after a lovely card to show your BFF just how much she means to you? Where do we find those?!

Luckily, the anti-Valentine’s movement has really gained momentum over recent years, and we’re seeing a tonne of greetings cards rear their heads that appeal to singletons and unromantics alike. Phew. Anything Netflix character-related we’re totally here for (scroll for the You and Sex Education cards – they’re GREAT), and the girl power cards for your BFFs are equally as fab.

Whether you’re on the hunt for a Valentine’s Day card for your other half to reiterate the fact that you’re not bored yet, or something for your BFF, here are the best anti-Valentine’s Day cards to make them smile this 14th February. And while you’re shopping, make sure you check out our round-up of the best gifts to buy for yourself this V-Day (self love is key).

NYX Is Launching a Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Palette, and the Colors Are Spellbinding

NYX Professional Makeup is cooking up a sinister new collection inspired by your favorite teenage witch. The beauty brand just teamed up with Netflix to launch a collection in celebration of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s season 3 return on Jan. 24. Thankfully you won’t have to join Sabrina Spellman and the gang on their trip to hell to get your hands on any of the products.

The collection features three Soft Matte Lip Cream Duos ($12 each) and a Spellbook eyeshadow palette ($35) that has 30 colors, 2 shades of blush, and a highlighter. According to Candice Stafford-Bridge, the show’s lead makeup artist, the palette was used to create some of the looks that will be seen in the upcoming season, which means that fans will be able to create their own kind of magic by mixing and matching the colors and attempting to recreate some of them on their own. “This collaboration rings so true to our show because of the color palette,” Stafford-Bridge told POPSUGAR. “It’s right on point with the season and matches the tones seen in the show.”

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina collection will be available on Jan. 21 at Ulta and NYX. Read ahead to get a peek at the Lip Cream Duos and all the colors in the Spellbook Palette.
