Spring 2018 Looks We Love: High-Shine Lips

Makeup artist Pat McGrath applied a clear gloss on top of colored lips before models walked down the runway at Gucci, whereas at Roberto Cavalli she gave naked lips a super-glossy finish.

Keeping the color of lips neutral, makeup artist Polly Osmond, did the same at Christian Siriano, using e. l. f. the Plump n’ Prep Lip Kit to create a glossy pout.

When the sun starts to shine a little bit brighter, we typically swap out our matte makeup with radiant finishes, and one trend to keep on your radar as we transition to warm weather this year is high-shine lips. Makeup artists are glossing over a lot this season, from eyes to collarbones, and the future of lips looks bright. That’s right, ladies, lip gloss is back.

The glossy addition not only gives your face youthful radiance, but it pairs perfectly with the natural, dewy makeup of spring and summer. So, put down the heavy foundation and contour kits, and reach for your tinted moisturizer, rosy cream blush, and a high-shine lip gloss instead. The result? Naturally polished without looking too forced.

The best part is that the look involves the addition of only one product. And fortunately, the lip glosses of today are unlike the sticky, sweet-flavored ones of years past. Also, gloss is much easier to pull off than lipstick – no bleeding, feathering, or transferring to your teeth.

Check out some of our favorites below, then cue up Lil Mama because these lip glosses be poppin.
