Over the weekend,Beyoncé, Blue Ivy and the Knowles-Lawson-Carter family attended the theWACO Theater Centers second-annual Wearable Art Gala in Los Angeles.
Co-founded and hosted by mother-of-Beyoncé-and-Solange Tina Knowles Lawson andher husband Richard Lawson, the event invited its guests to dress as characters from Wakanda, the fictional world in which the newly released “Black Panther” takes place. And its celebrity attendees certainly took advantage of the theme and arrived in the most beautiful, elaborate looks.
But of course, no two people were more aptly dressed for the royal occasion than Beyoncé and her six-year-old mini-mogul, Blue Ivy, who both wore coordinating gold dresses complete with dramatic metallic details and shiny headpieces.
According to WWD, Beyoncés body-hugging, custom gown was inspired by an ancient Nubian warrior queen and designed byIndian fashion house Falguni Shane Peacock. The dress featured an extravagant gold train andstrategically placed metallic cutouts designed to mimic the armor worn by Nubian armies.
Similarly, Blues dress was a miniature sparkling concoction made out of ribbons of gold lamé layered into a Christmas Tree shape. But Mother Knowles was not to be left out of the gilded gown club: She took charge of the evening in a form-fitting, one-shouldered satin gold dress made by designerJean-Louis Sabaji — she is the matriarch of the royal family, after all, so she deserve to be draped in gold.
Aside from theKnowles-Lawson-Carters, Ashley Jackson, V. Bozeman,Chloe x Halleand more also came out to celebrate bold, superhero-charged fashion in couture-like crafted multicolored and patterned ensembles, which you can seein the below.
