See Every Look From the Fall 2018 Altuzarra Show

There is a place in fashion for the artfully outlandish and clothing-as-meme, but that place was not on Joseph Altuzarras Fall 2018 runway.

While some of his peers were sending wearable pillows down the catwalk, Altuzarra gravitated instead toward design that felt imminently wearable with a collection of tailored suiting and flowy dresses.

Set at La Coupole, a restaurant opened in 1927 that has been described as a shrine to art deco, the show was inspired by the memories of women Altuzarra grew up around, from his mother to the Parisian women of the eighties.

While he claimed in the show notes that he was thinking about a “fantastical warrior woman” while designing last seasons offerings, even the usage of grommeted leather or feather-printed knits felt urban and sophisticated this time around. Perhaps todays warrior woman is more likely to require “armor” fit for city life than anything else.
