The rules of cropping clearly state that if one person is wearing especially sparkly shoes, said shoes must not be cropped out of photos posted to Instagram. Ryan Reynolds, an experienced poster and Wife Guy, should know better.
And yet, in his otherwise charming Instagram post of himself, Blake Lively, and Mr. and Mrs. Claus, Reynolds cut off the photo at his wife’s ankles. “My. Shoes ,” she wrote in the comments. Don’t worry, he learned from his mistake.
“We met Jessica Claus and her husband on the Polar Express,” Reynolds wrote in the original caption. “She was everything I’d always dreamed since I was a kid. She smelled like cinnamon buns and sangria. ” In the pic, Reynolds poses next to a chicly pyjama-clad and extremely pregnant Lively, Santa, and Mrs. Claus—whose first name turns out to be Jessica. Who knew!
I assume the couple’s three daughters, James, Inez, and Betty, were also present for the visit with the big guy, but they are not pictured. It’s a very cute holiday photo, but Lively was clearly dismayed that her glitter-covered sneaks were not included.
To make up for this error, Reynolds posted the same photo, shoes included, to his Instagram Stories, with a message of apology.
“I cropped my wife’s shoes out in the photo I posted. It’s inexcusable and I’m sorry to anyone I’ve hurt with this callous lack of fortitude. Heading to the hospital to have my brain weighted,” he wrote over the pic, tagging the Essex Steam Train in Connecticut, which hosted the North Pole Express event.
Not even Ryan Reynolds can be a perfect Wife Guy all the time, it would appear.
