The video, which was posted on Instagram by @boy with the caption ‘hair curling on a budget’, has been viewed almost two million times in just one day. In the video the woman, who goes by the name of Nikki, starts off by saying, “It’s so hot in California, let me show you this.”
Then she proceeds to walk over to a metal pole and wrap a section of her hair around it, letting the curl sit for around ten seconds. When she lets go – hey presto! A perfect curl. Even she seems surprised by the fact that it actually worked, slapping her hand over her mouth and exclaiming, “Oh my god, it curled my hair!”
This might just be the most bonkers hair story you’ll hear this summer – a woman in Los Angeles is sending the internet into meltdown with a video that shows her curling her hair on a boiling hot metal pole outside. Yep, you read that right – a metal pole.
People are going mad for the meme, leaving thousands of comments under the post. Some think global warming is to blame for the freakish temperatures, while others are quick to point out that other parts of the world get way hotter than LA. “Gurl California is nothing,” one comment reads.
“Come to Kuwait in the Middle East.” Some are challenging whether the video is even real, claiming she already had the curl there before she started. Others are just impressed by her technique, calling the curl “cute AF”.
However she managed it, we wouldn’t recommend trying this at home – using a burning hot pole could easily singe your hair or leave you with a nasty burn. Stick to your trusty curling wands instead.
