Rihanna’s Lingerie Line Launches This Week

Hosting the 2018 Met Gala was only the first of Rihanna’s big fashion moments this week – and while the second may not involve a jewel encrusted papal crown, it is certainly worth being excited about.

The singer-turned-designer is launching her highly-anticipated lingerie line under the umbrella of Fenty, which has seen massive success.

The move seems like a natural progression for someone who sings about “Wild Thoughts,” and it’s somewhat of a miracle that it’s taken this long for it to happen. Speculation of a possible intimates line first began in March, and Rihanna began sharing teasers of the lacy lingerie in April, confirming our wildest dreams.

Here’s everything we know so far about the Savage x Fenty launch, other than the fact that we’re literally counting down the minutes until we can shop it (while playing the “Unapologetic” album on repeat).

It launches Friday, May 11

First and foremost, Savage x Fenty officially launches worldwide later this week. The brand’s website features a countdown clock for those of us who want to track the launch to the final second. Or, you can also join the mailing list.

It will be size inclusive

Much like her line of foundations under the Fenty label, which launched in 40 shades, Savage x Fenty lingerie will have something for everyone. Alongside a campaign video with plus-size model Audrey Richie, the empress wrote on Instagram, “Savages come in all shapes and sizes! ! ” Though the brand has yet to confirm the size range, as Mic pointed out earlier this month, when you enter your email on the website, you’re also prompted to select your bra and underwear sizes. The size-inclusive options range from 32A to 44DDD for bras and up to 3X for underwear, and there is also an “Other” option in both categories.

It oozes confidence

Whether you consider yourself straight-sized or plus-sized, this intimates line is all about being confident in your own skin. “Savage is really about taking complete ownership of how you feel and the choices you make. Basically making sure everybody knows the ball is in your court,” Rihanna told Vogue in an interview accompanying her May cover for the magazine. “As women, we’re looked at as the needy ones, the naggy ones, the ones who are going to be heartbroken in a relationship. Savage is just the reverse. And you know, guys don’t like getting the cards flipped on them – ever. ”

The ads are awe-inspiring

Rihanna has shared quite a few of them on her social media accounts, and they feature a seriously diverse cast of women, herself included, in different video clips talking about what it means to be sexy. “I think I feel most sexy in the morning. Rolls. Stretch marks. Cellulite,” says Ritchie in one teaser ‘gram. “Whichever gender you choose to have sex with, you should be proud and find yourself sexually. ”

In her spot, model Stella Duval opens up about being typecast based on the industry’s standards of sexiness. “If I’m shooting something, I’m stereotyped as sexy, if I am doing a test shoot or something like that, they’ll want me to take my top off,” she says. “I feel like I can do more than that. I’m more than just – of course I love being sexy, and I’m open to nudity as well – but I’m not just that. ”

Powerful stuff, to say the least.

There will be a variety of styles to choose from

For the last few weeks, the brand’s official Instagram account has been teasing followers with images of what to expect from the line when it launches. It appears there will be sexy corsets, lacy lingerie sets, everyday-style t-shirt bras and briefs, comfy-cute bralettes and camisoles, all of which are exactly as statement-making as you’d expect intimates designed by Rihanna to be.

According to an exclusive interview with Vogue, the collection will feature 90 pieces at launch, including four capsule collections within the main line. Everyday essentials will fall under the core collection, “On the Reg,” and will be available in every shade of nude imaginable. The other collections are “U Cute” (think lacy), “Damn” (think edgy), and “Black Widow” (think risqué pieces for the ultimate sexy time). Prices will start at $14. 50.

The styles can be worn under clothes… or as clothes

Just five days before the launch of the line, Bad Gal RiRi stepped out in New York City wearing a Savage x Fenty camisole as a top. She paired the silky style with distressed jeans, an itty-bitty denim skirt worn as a vest, a pink brocade coat, and heels for a lingerie-meets-streetwear look that is so RiRi. She finished the outfit with a nameplate necklace that read “SavageX. ”

It’s available exclusively online

When it launches, the only place you’ll be able to get Savage x Fenty lingerie is at SavageX. com. Word on the street is that the line will offer a subscription service similar to Fabletics and ShoeDazzle. According to Buzzfeed, sources say that Rihanna has teamed up with TechStyle Fashion Group to offer annual memberships with discounted prices.

Either way, mark your calendars – we have a feeling this stuff will sell out fast!
