A very sweet photo of Archie meeting the Queen has just appeared on the Sussex Royal Instagram page, alongside the announcement.
Baby Sussex has a name! It has just this minute been announced and it’s…
Drum roll, please…
Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Welcome to the world, little Archie.
The royal birth was exactly what we needed after the post-Bank holiday blues kicked in, and ever since we found out that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had welcomed a baby boy, we’ve been eagerly awaiting a first look at the newborn.
And on Wednesday, the royal couple gave the world exactly what they wanted. Meghan, donning a chic white buttoned dress from Wales Bonner, and Harry, in a dapper grey suit, shared images of their son with the world.
Posing in St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle, the new family look absolutely adorable, don’t you agree?
New mother Meghan gushed as she described having the ‘two best guys in the world’. “It’s magic, it’s pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy,” she said.
“He has the sweetest temperament, he’s really calm,” added Meghan.
“I don’t know who he gets that from,” laughed Harry.
Speaking about how he’s finding parenting, Prince Harry said: “It’s great. Parenting is amazing. It’s only been two and a half days, three days, but we’re just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy.”
Meghan, who was a week overdue, gave birth at 05.26am on Monday morning with Prince Harry by her side and their baby weighs 7lbs 3oz.
Taking to their official Instagram page, the couple wrote: “We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz”
Shortly after the announcement, Prince Harry stepped out at Windsor Castle to give an impromptu and heartfelt statement about the birth of his first child.
Clearly over the moon, Prince Harry said: “Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It’s been the most amazing experience I could of ever possibly ever imagined. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension! We are both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everyone out there. It’s been amazing so we just wanted to share this with everybody.
“I haven’t been at many births. This is definitely my first birth. It was amazing, absolutely incredible, and, as I said, I’m so incredibly proud of my wife.
“As every father and parent will ever say, you know, your baby is absolutely amazing, but this little thing is absolutely to-die-for, so I’m just over the moon.”
It comes after Kate Middleton and Prince William shared their delight about welcoming a nephew. “Obviously thrilled, absolutely thrilled, and obviously looking forward to seeing them in the next few days when things have quietened down. I’m very pleased and glad to welcome my own brother into the sleep deprivation society that is parenting,” said William.
After tracking Meghan’s pregnancy avidly, we’re so excited for the couple and believe the new arrival will bring some much-needed diversity to the monarchy.
According to the Daily Mail, Meghan and Harry’s baby is going to have some pretty damn famous godparents in the form of George and Amal Clooney. Casual.
A source told the paper: “Amal and Meghan have been close for years, and Harry and George have become buddies because of that. They’re much closer than the headlines let on.”
Apparently, George “told a couple of people he has a strong hunch” that they’ll be asked to be godparents.
We’re really hoping his ‘hunch’ is accurate and only time will tell.
We’ll keep you updated with all the updates as and when we know.
Welcome to the world, little one!
