You may have noticed that cleaning influencers are a thing now. They’re very tidy women who post pictures of their very tidy homes on Instagram, alongside captions that detail their best cleaning and tidying tips.
Lynsey Crombey, known as the “Queen of Clean” on Instagram, is one such influencer. She brought out a book called How To Clean Your House: Easy tips and tricks to keep your home clean and tidy up your life. She has 149,000 followers and she appears on television regularly to share her greatest tips for keeping a tidy life and a clean household. She shares pics of her teenage kids, her outfit choices and her cleaning products.
This week, she shared her trusted hack for making sure that your shoes never smell again. Just quietly, we’re listening. Nobody wants to have smelly feet.
On Tuesday, Lynsey posted this photograph of some bright yellow shoes stuffed with teabags.
“An oldie but a goodie today especially as the weather is heating up and there is nothing worse than smelly shoes,” she wrote.
“Pop a few tea bags inside your smelly shoes to fight off bad odours that are caused by heat and bacteria. Leave to sit overnight in a warm dry place. The longer you leave the better. Any tea bags will work even the minty herbal ones. Tea bags are super absorbent and will suck the moisturiser and smell right out. To save waste make sure you reuse the ones from your shoes for other household tasks. Tea bags actually have lots of uses from cleaning marks off windows and mirrors to fertilising your plants.”
The post had thousands of likes.
While you’re in the kitchen grabbing tea bags, might as well pick up some olive oil to clean your tabletops. Lynsey says to mix some in a bowl with salt, rub the mixture onto a stain or damaged area on your table, leave for 30 minutes and then wipe off.
