When Nicole Kidman won Best Actress at the Emmys this year for her work on HBO’s Big Little Lies, people were shocked to see her briefly lock lips with co-star Alexander Skarsgard before taking the stage.
To be fair, she kissed husband Keith Urban too, but the whole thing definitely left us wondering: what was up with that?
Thankfully, TV host Graham Norton was apparently thinking the same thing, because he asked Kidman about it on his show last week, prompting her to get a little, well, flustered. Hey, can you blame her?
“I did kiss him because you gotta understand, I did everything with Alex … I’ve got an amazing, supportive, gorgeous husband who I love more than anything in the world and I gave Alex and congratulatory kiss and he’s like a mannequin. I mean not a mannequin… alright, I’m done. ”
To be fair,Skarsgard is quite mannequin-like. And that innocent awards show kiss is nothing compared to what the two had to do on camera. Luckily, from the looks of it, Urban was cool with the whole thing. And when Norton asked what he had done to celebrate Kidman’s recent 50th birthday, she responded that he “did some fireworks” and some “other stuff” before collapsing into a fit of giggles.
