Moon milk is being hailed a miracle cure for insomnia, here’s exactly what it is

Let’s face it, lack of sleep can ruin your life. If you’re having a bad week, feeling a bit anxious, or just got too emotionally involved in that episode of Love Island before hitting the hay then you know how it feels to roll around your bed for longer than actually get some sleep.

And as much as we love a new app, sometimes only a sesh of mindfulness or a cup of chamomile tea can soothe the soul. So if you’re one of those people who believes in putting your phone down before bed – or just have to – we’ve got a cool new trick for you. Everyone, meet Moon milk.

Moon milk is taking over our feeds as the new food trend of 2018 – not only is it Instagrammable, but the recipe has seen a rise in searches on Pinterest of over 700%, and with so many people interested in it, it’s bound to be good.

As weird as the name sounds, moon milk isn’t a product of witchcraft, it consists of warm milk with a specific blend of spices and honey. It is also considered a perfect nightcap because the recipe is designed to get adaptogens into your system – which helps the body unwind. It’s similar to a hot toddy, but without the booze!

As naturopath and founder of Orchard St. , Kirsten Shanks, told Vogue Australia: “Adaptogens can act as valuable preventive medicine when you know you have a perceived stressful time coming up. ”

“The end of each day is made mindfully medicinal with a concoction of warmed nut milk with holy basil and ashwagandha spiced with cardamom, cinnamon and a dash of local honey,” – she explained.

Sounds interesting. Would you give it a go?
