Meghann Fahy was the breakout star of the second season of The White Lotus, which centres on the dark secrets of varying guests and staff at an idyllic resort over a week.
Warning: Immediate spoilers ahead!
One such storyline in the second season, which was set in stunning Sicily, focused on Daphne (Meghann) and her husband Cameron (Theo James) holidaying with their friend Ethan (Will Sharpe) and his wife Harper (Aubrey Plaza).
Quickly, things got awkward with Harper’s reluctance to warm up to Daphne and Theo — who, on paper, looked like the ultimate picture-perfect couple who have it all. She felt even more uncomfortable following Theo’s questionable behaviour towards her in private before learning that he and Ethan enjoyed a wild party with two prostitutes in her and Daphne’s absence.
In return, Harper’s husband Ethan felt blindsided when Harper accused him of cheating on her when she found a condom in their hotel room following the party. He then began to over-analyse the situation and came to the unproven conclusion that something intimate happened between Harper and Cameron.
Ethan then took his concerns to Cameron’s wife, Daphne, who also agreed she something may have happened between their significant others. Smiling, Daphne led him down the beach near a giant, ahem, very private, large rock. Viewers never found out what exactly happened, and things were certainly left to our imagination as we drew our own conclusions about what happened.
Daphne actress Meghann also had her own thoughts and admitted she spoke to The White Lotus creator Mike White about what may have happened. Speaking on The Tonight Show, the 32-year-old explained: «I saw him [Mike White] on the night of the finale, and I asked him because people ask me all the time, and I was like, ‘What do you think happened? ’. And I told him what I thought happened, and he was like, ‘Ew, I don’t want to think about that. ‘» Haha! I guess that answers it all, then? !
Meghann Fahy immediately became a fan favourite of the series, and fans were up in arms following her snub from the Golden Globe 2023 nominations. While her co-stars Aubrey Plaza, F. Murray Abraham and Jennifer Coolidge (the latter who won the Best Supporting Actress role for The White Lotus) all got nominations, Meghann did not, which was truly criminal.
Nonetheless, it’s just nice to see how far Sutton Brady-Hunter has come from The Bold Type!
