Meghan Markle’s Nickname For Archie Has a Deeper Meaning Than You’d Think!

In case you missed it: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor officially turned 1 on May 6! And in a sweet video shared by Save With Stories on Instagram, the newly minted 1-year-old can be seen listening to his mom, Meghan Markle, read Duck! Rabbit! .

Although we loved seeing him help turn the pages and hearing Prince Harry in the background, we also zeroed in on the fact that Meghan used the nickname “Arch. ”

Sure, it may seem like a natural way to shorten Archie’s name, but according to Meghan and Harry, it has a profound meaning.

“Before SussexRoyal came the idea of ‘Arche’ – the Greek word meaning ‘source of action,’” the couple said in a statement last month. “We connected to this concept for the charitable organization we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name. To do something of meaning, to do something that matters. Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon. We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right. ”

We love a good baby name backstory! Happy birthday, Archie! Has time flown or what?
