This morning, Kensington Palace released the official engagement portraits of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The photos were takenby fashion photographerAlexi Lubomirski. earlier this week at Frogmore House in Windsor.
In the first portrait, Prince Harry and Markle pose while sitting on outdoor steps. Markle is leaning on her future husband’s leg with her ring finger resting atop his hand, prominently displaying her massive engagement ring. Prince Harry appears dapper in a royal blue suit, with Markle in a black Ralph Russo gown featuring a sheer bodice with gold detailing and a textured bottom. For a new member of the Royal Family, this is definitely a risquéchoice, but Markle smartly lined the bodice with a nude-colored slip.
In a second portrait rendered in black and white, the couple nuzzle together while Harry looks down at his fiancée adoringly. Markle’s hand sweetly touches his cheek, showing off her sparklingring. In this photo, Markle wears a sweater by Victoria Beckham and Harry lovingly wraps her in his Burberry coat. How very British.
“It was an incredible honor to be asked to document this wonderful event, but also a great privilege to be invited to share and be a witness to this young couple’s love for one another,” said Lubomirskiin a statement released by the palace. “I cannot help but smile when I look at the photos that we took of them, such was their happiness together. ”
After the official photos were released early this morning, Kensington Palace also released via Instagram a candid portrait of the couple with astatement: “Thank you so much for all of the wonderful comments following the release of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle’s engagement photographs. The couple are so grateful for the warm and generous messages they have received during such a happy time in their lives. As a way to say thank you, they have decided to share this candid photograph from the day of their portrait sittings directly with all of you. “
The photos were released just one day after the couple joined members of the Royal Family for Queen Elizabeth II’s annual Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace.
The couple announced the news of their engagement on November 27 and Prince Harry proposed to Markle with a three-stone engagement ring he designed himself. The center diamond features a diamond fromBotswana and the two smaller diamonds are from Princess Diana’s personal jewelry collection. The couple will marry on May 19, 2018 atSt. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
