Maisie Williams took matters into her own hands when it came to her Met Gala 2021 look, revealing that she designed her dressed for the biggest night on the fashion calendar. Luckily, it turns out acting isn’t her own great talent as she looked incredible.
The Game of Thrones star was giving us gothic goddess in an emo-esque sustainable black leotard dress with mesh sleeves, black crystals and a long train, while her dark hair and make-up perfectly matched the vibe. The entire look was very much Wednesday Adam but make it fashion, though Maisie said it was inspired by The Matrix.
Speaking to E! News prior to the event, the 24-year-old actor explained that her dress was designed by herself and her boyfriend Reuben Selby, whilst expressing her excitement for being at the event this year. “I was brought up on American icons … these women in film … it’s shaped the woman I became,” she said.
Meanwhile, Selby, who is a cofounder of a modelling agency, took to Instagram to explain his girlfriend’s look, saying: “Maisie and I visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art in August 2019 for the first time and were inspired deeply by the collection and the exhibition “Camp: Notes on Fashion”. Little did we know we would see one of our creations on the red carpet two years later. ”

Maisie, who has been blonde since April – a look we’re loving on her – switched it up for the night with a black Medusa-esque updo’ whilst keeping her eyebrows bleached, a trend only a few could pull off.
As for the rest of her glam, she rocked dark eyeshadow and liner for extra drama, along with a dark lip and black and green nails to complete the look.
Safe to say she understood the assignment!
