We’re fully prepared for the UK to go into a state of mourning this weekend. Thunderstorms up and down the country, travel problems, cancelled flights and of course, most importantly, Love Island 2018 is coming to an end.
There has been love and losses, liars and #loyalty and more drama than you can shake a stick at, but it’s finally time for us to say goodbye.
Reflecting on her time as the Love Island podcast host, we caught up with Arielle Free to get the goss on her favourite couples, behind the scenes secrets and the most shocking moment of the series.
What’s the one thing you’ve learnt about Love Island that you didn’t know before starting the podcast?
That there is no right or wrong way when it comes to dating. Everyone person has an individual ideal of what they’re hoping for or looking for and to try get that, we all act completely differently. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. Also that Wes makes a mean cheese toastie.
What tips would you give someone for getting on the show?
If you’re looking for fame then this show isn’t for you. The casting team will see right through it. They want people who are genuinely looking for love. If you’re a single pringle and ready to mingle, then you’ve got a chance of being cast, it’s as simple as that.
Are there any beauty tips or hacks from the girls you can share with us?
If you have hair extensions, never go in the pool! Ellie learned the hard way.
Here’s what our politicians could learn from the cast of Love Island
How DO the girls stay so preened and pampered in the house?
Waxing, they fake tan a lot too as they don’t want to sunbathe too much or burn. Laura was helping cut peoples’ hair (badly according to Kem’s well-trained eye). Sometimes they might be able to get their nails or hair done ahead of the final.
Be honest – which couple were you rooting for?
Josh and Kaz and now Megan and Wes. Jani is always going to be the clear fave but I like rooting for the underdogs and I feel like Megan and Wes really needed to find each other. They’ve met their match in each other. Josh and Kaz are just fire!
And which did you think was just not well-matched at all?
Georgia and Sam. I wasn’t convinced they had fallen in love. I’m still not convinced. Mind you, I thought that about Adam and Zara and they surprisingly seem quite strong still.
Here’s why Laura is the MVP of this year’s Love Island – and what we can ALL learn from her
Do you think any of the couples will last the distance outside of the villa?
Jack and Dani for sure – they’ll get married and have kids. Josh and Kaz I see working and Ellie and Charlie 100%. I also think Samira and Frankie were great together but i know they had their tests outside the villa once she had left.
Would you ever be a contestant on Love Island?
100% yes! It’s a once in a lifetime experience and one where you might find your one true love! What’s not to love? Also, I’m so competitive, so I’d love to try all the challenges and win them.
What do you think was the most shocking moment of this series?
When Megan announced she liked Wes. It came from nowhere and totally shocked all the islanders. But was obviously meant to be! Also Georgia’s loyal kiss. That was the gift that kept giving.
