Responding to TikTok users who were adding her name under videos labelled with the ‘big girls‘ tag, she said: “Every time there is a big girl on this app, I find that people put my name in the comments.
And to the people who be putting my name in the comments: ‘Thank you’. ”
“Because you know what? If every time we see a big girl on this app, loving on herself and putting herself out there, and being confident and loving her body, you think of me or you think she looks like me. Bitch, that is a what? Comp-li-ment. ”
Let us count the ways we love Lizzo. From urging fans to maintain the Black Lives Matter momentum earlier this month, to her bomb fashion sense (remember that Valentino micro bag? ! ) and, of course, for providing us with banger after banger.
But as well as all that, Lizzo is a fierce champion for body positivity and self-love. Now – and not for the first time –she’s using her platform to spread the message that all bodies are beautiful.
“That means I’m out here doing what I’m supposed to be doing –letting you bitches know that next time you try to make fun of a woman for her body, or her size? That bitch we’re out here, and we don’t give a fuck. And we are confident and we are bad bitches and we are cover stars. ”
At the end of the video, Lizzo adds: “So, thanks. And to all the big girls, I see you. Keep putting my name in the comments, hoe. ”
The video already has almost 18,000 comments from fans praising Lizzo for spreading the self-confidence and slamming the body-shamers.
“I love Lizzo because she’s always confident and she doesn’t care about the hate,” wrote one user. “thank you for being strong for me! you are wonderful! ” said another, while another commented: “ok but this made me kinda feel better about myself. ”
And that TikTok user is right –Lizzo always makes us feel good about ourselves, whether it’s through her music or her social media posts. She’s the self-love champion we all need in our lives right now.
