LA woman loses 230lbs after she was too heavy for her scale

A morbidly obese woman who tipped the scales at 414lbs has shed a whopping 230lbs in just 14 months – without any weight loss surgery or diet gimmicks.

Noelle Dawson, a mother-of-five from Los Angeles, hit her breaking point in in 2016 when she realized she was too heavy for her scale at home. After learning that she weighed more than 400lbs, she changed her life by adopting a low-carb, high-protein diet and making exercise a part of her regular routine.

Noelle has maintained her current weight of 184lbs for the past six months, and she often shares before-and-after photos of herself on her Instagram page, which has amassed more than 39,000 followers.

The mom opened up about her weight loss journey in a YouTube video last summer, explaining how her size kept her from living her life to the fullest.

Noelle recounted how she and her husband, Chris, took their children to the zoo in June of 2016, but she couldn’t walk more than 10 minutes without getting ‘completely fatigued.’

‘My children were forced to sit and wait with me every time I needed a break,’ she said. ‘My weight was affecting all of my relationships.’

Noelle noted that her children love doing puzzles, but they always felt like a chore to her because she knew she would struggle to get up off the floor when they were done.

What a difference: Before she lost the weight, her feet were painfully swollen (L), but now they are back to normal (R)

‘I tried just about every form of weight loss aside from surgery with little to no success,’ she admitted.

However, it wasn’t until she realized that she was too heavy for her scale that she realized she needed to make a change once and for all.

‘I stepped on the scale and it read error, so I put in a new set of batteries assuming it was low – and it was error again,’ she recalled.

After realizing the weight limit on the scale was 408lbs, she ended up ordering a new one and found out that she weighed 414lbs.

‘I was completely devastated and couldn’t believe I’d gotten so out of control with my health,’ she said. ‘This was my rock bottom.’

That shocking moment prompted her to turn to her cousin, who was looking help motivated people who wanted to improve their health.

While working as her health coach, her cousin helped her better understand herself and the reasons why she turned to food for comfort.

‘I now have a healthy relationship with food and am no longer interested in feeding it garbage,’ she explained.

At 184lbs, Noelle is finally able to hike, swim, ride bikes, and bound on a trampoline with her kids. The former child gymnast has even returned to practicing handstands and bridges.

Getting candid: Noelle’s incredible weight loss has left her with excess skin that hangs from her stomach (R), but her compression pants disguise it (L)

Honesty: ‘I’d rather have loose skin then be unhealthy and miserable at 400-plus pounds again,’ Noelle explained

‘Growing up as a gymnast and gaining 250 pounds as an adult was disappointing to say the least,’ she wrote on Instagram. ‘Gymnastics was my life and I was over the moon that I was finally able to get back into it.’

Noelle’s incredible weight loss has left her with excess skin that hangs from her stomach, but insists that people shouldn’t let that keep them from reaching their weight loss goals.

‘I’ve had so many people state that they fear losing weight and having excess skin. No disrespect to anyone, but, for me, I’d rather have loose skin then be unhealthy and miserable at 400-plus pounds again,’ she wrote.

‘I have learned to embrace my skin, it is my trophy for all of the blood, sweat and tears I’ve put in to my journey.’
