Posting on his Instagram, not only did he give us a sneak peek of the products he used on Kim’s face but also showed us themakeuplook that was hiding under the mask – and we areherefor it.
When Kim Kardashian stepped out on the red carpet for last night’s Met Gala, it’s fair to say the beautysphere felt a little bit cheated. Sure, her trained Balenciaga look was chic, but it was her face covering that made the look a show-stopper. And no, we’re not talking the pandemic kind of face covering, but rather a sort of mask that quite literally covered her entire face (and head for that matter).
It’s got us talking, for sure, and we do sort of love it, but when we saw Kim on the red carpet, we felt a bit miffed we weren’t going to get much of a beauty look to fawn over. But luckily for us, Kim’s go-to makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic was all over social media to make sure we knew that the full-glam Kim we know and love was under there somewhere.
True to form, the makeup look was bronzed, sculpted and glam beyond compare. The skin, which was prepped with La Mer Moisturizing Cream, was matte in the chicest of ways. Practically, we suppose it would have been imperative that Kim’s makeup was baked to its fullest potential to make sure it didn’t budge underneath the mask. But that’s not to say the look was flat.
There was subtle glow on the high points (the sort that looks like it shines from the skin, rather than chunky highlight), her cheekbones and nose were hella contoured and her skin just looked enviably smooth.
Her eyes were winged and smoked out, lifting the face up to only contribute further to the sculpted look (we’re assuming this was achieved with Makeup By Mario Master Mattes Eyeshadow Palette and Liquid Liner, after Mario posted a photo of them on his Insta).
And as for her lips? Why matte and nude, of course – this is Kim K we’re talking about.
Yes, we might be a little bit gutted that we didn’t get to see it up close and personal on the red carpet, but actually, the fact this insanely beautiful makeup look was hiding beneath the head covering just makes it all that bit more genius. Brava Kim, once again, for leaving us all in awe.
