The couple announced their split in February after two years of marriage and seven years together, and it felt like Ross and Rachael breaking up all over again.
Luckily, they’ve stayed on good terms and now Justin has spoken out about the split for the first time since it happened.
Of all of the many many celebrity breakups we’ve experienced this year, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s split has definitely hurt us HARD.
In a piece by the New York Times, the actor said that it had been “the most gentle separation” as they tried to make it as “painless as it could be. ”
“The good news is that was probably the most – I’m choosing my words really carefully – it was kind of the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity.
“Again, neither one of us is dead, neither one of us is looking to throw hatchets at each other.
“It’s more like, it’s amicable. It’s boring, but, you know, we respected each other enough that it was as painless as it could be. ”
So gracious.
The couple split in what Justin described as “two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple. ”
