Jennifer Lopez used this £7 nail polish to create her autumn manicure

Jennifer Lopez is is a woman after our own heart. There may be a new ‘it’ nail shade emerging every day, but while it’s nice to dip in a toe (or your fingernails) into the trends, we’ll still always have a place for the classics. We’re talking long-lasting, glossy nail polish formulas in milky pinks, navy blues and luxe reds.

While attending the Ralph Lauren SS23 runway show at the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California on 13 October, Jen opted for the latter to complement her plunge black pinstripe dress. She paired her gold jewellery, and new wedding band from husband, Ben, with a gorgeous, rich, red wine shade that looked equal parts sophisticated, cosy and perfect for the autumn season.

If you’ve been looking for an ideal autumn red polish, you’re in luck because Jennifer Lopez’s manicurist, Tom Bachik, even let slip the exact shade he used on the singer. The expensive-looking mani was created using a £7 polish from Essie in one of the brand’s original and most iconic shades, Bordeaux, a vintage, uncorked deep red.

Tom shared a close-up of the colour and explained the thinking behind the choice in the caption on his Instagram post, noting it tied it perfectly with the rest of Jennifer’s ensemble. “Her make up was clean and fresh. Her hair perfection in glamorous waves,” said Tom, adding the vibe was: “beautiful, classic and minimalist and the nails needed to complete the look. ”

Essie Nail Colour in Bordeaux

Essie Bordeaux fit the bill he explained and “short, strong, natural-shaped nails helps the color pop,” he said and “gave us a timeless strength, sophistication, and style. ”

Of course, it isn’t the first time JLo has chosen a shade from the high-street nail brand. Tom previously let slip that she’s a fan of Topless & Barefoot, a neutral, pretty beige-pink that’s another timeless shade to add to our repertoire.

So, if you fancy a cheap pick-me-up, four under a tenner, with Hollywood’s seal of approval, Essie’s Bordeaux nail polish is not a bad way to go…
