Jaden Smith loves to bring unlikely accessories to the Met Gala, and this year was no exception.
After making quite the statement at the Met Gala 2017 by bringing a literal chunk of his own dreadlocks as some sort of edgy AF clutch bag, the singer-stroke-actor couldn’t resist turning the Met Gala 2018 red carpet into an opportunity for a bit of self-promotion.

The rapper hit the Met Ball carrying the gold disc certification for his hit song, Icon. At times he posed alongside it and at others he legit carried the disc as if it was a bag.

What significance this has for the controversial 2018 Met Gala theme of, ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’ is unclear. The 19 year old attended in a Louis Vuitton oversized panelled coat, spring friendly white denim jeans and a jolly good tennis shoe.
Perhaps the idea was a metaphor for how Jaden views himself, placing his accomplishments and himself as a higher power or his own religion. Whatever the meaning actually is, you can always rely on Jaden Smith to shake up the style on the red carpet.
